I'm sure your engine had lifter gallery plugs. I'm skeptical that it had never been apart. Do I think it is impossible that they were original? No, I think anything is possible with Ma Mopar. Since I knew you would have to continue this ridiculous discussion, I looked in the newest Chrysler parts book I had, 1974, and there are no lifter gallery plugs shown or listed. Carry On

Look...do you know the original owner of my car?...I suspect you don't. I may have been born at night...but it wasn't last night!! I have done a few engines myself in my time (I ain't 14 y.o.), and I think I can tell an original, unopened engine from a rebuilt one. You can be as skeptical as you like, but THE ORIG OWNER SAYS ITS ORIGINAL AND UNOPENED!!!...Why would he lie about that?

So, Mr "Cam Plug Expert", if they aren't in a '74 parts book, when did they start installing them? You need to check that earlier thread...some members said their "early" (your term) small blocks had them, and some said they didn't. 1 contributor said he had an unmolested '71 318 that had the plugs. Not really sure why you're trying to change MY actual observations of MY engine! ..Guess you have too much time on your hands.

Add'l: So, if you haven't seen something, then it doesn't exist, right? How do you feel about oxygen?

The 98 model 5.2 in my car came from a Dakota where it had never been opened...no tensioner.
