For the third time it's a no on a Mopar. But we have a member who had a failure. I remember because I ribbed him about it forever. @stroked340 David, I believe. He may still have pictures.

I got my unrestricted driver's license in 67 and finally did my first engine swap in 70. Once I was done with the military, I spent lots of time at the track and more so than before going in. Ran HV pumps in lots of engines and didn't see any problems. Maybe the parts now a days are junk vs what they were in the 70's and 80's or so?

The reason why my stock shaft(and I believe a hardened one would of snapped too) is because the screen on the oil pump pick up came apart and pieces of metal got jammed in the oil pump!!
Yeah, I'm not sure the hardened shaft wouldda lived either. Hope y'all are doing well. You ever gonna get you another Mopar?
Running 20w-50 thanks to Florida heat. The $60 price tag seems worth it for piece of mind. Especially since I'll be removing the distributor to prime anyways.

If it bothers you, run an extra quart in the pan. Won't hurt a thing.
The only time I ran my stock pan dry was when I was a quart low.....and the only time that showed up was on a hard launch. The mechanical gauge took a quick dive and was back up in the blink of an eye.
If you are using a stock pan and pickup the pickup needs to be touching the bottom of the pan. Do not set it a quarter inch off the floor. Thats wrong.
