LA360 Oil Pump

just checking, that was a "no" on seeing a failure on a mopar right?
For the third time it's a no on a Mopar. But we have a member who had a failure. I remember because I ribbed him about it forever. @stroked340 David, I believe. He may still have pictures.

You got lucky. .......and not like on prom night.
I got my unrestricted driver's license in 67 and finally did my first engine swap in 70. Once I was done with the military, I spent lots of time at the track and more so than before going in. Ran HV pumps in lots of engines and didn't see any problems. Maybe the parts now a days are junk vs what they were in the 70's and 80's or so?

don't get all ruffled up, i just wanted it to be clear and concise and not get lost in the static of you calling me cheap.

*walks over to chalk board*
*marks one hash mark under broken oil pump drive with a question mark next to it*

Now THAT you will not get me to argue with not one bit. The stock Mopar stuff OR the DC, and "good" MP stuff were all good quality. Now, not so much.

You're a maroon. But that reminds me of macaroon pie and now I'm hungry.

Man, y'all are a different breed of people over here!!!

i think that you said you were wrong once, but it turns out that you were wrong about that.

pretty sure we marked it on the calendar.
Yes, now you are beginning to understand. That's the first step to enlightenment. lol

The reason why my stock shaft(and I believe a hardened one would of snapped too) is because the screen on the oil pump pick up came apart and pieces of metal got jammed in the oil pump!!

Yeah, I'm not sure the hardened shaft wouldda lived either. Hope y'all are doing well. You ever gonna get you another Mopar?

Never ran a hardened drive on any HV pump unless I was running thicker oils or if the engine was in a race car.
Running 20w-50 thanks to Florida heat. The $60 price tag seems worth it for piece of mind. Especially since I'll be removing the distributor to prime anyways.

Should I be concerned about potentially running the pan dry if I'm running 3k consistently? 4:10 gears has me in that range on a lot of roads down here.

If it bothers you, run an extra quart in the pan. Won't hurt a thing.

The only time I ran my stock pan dry was when I was a quart low.....and the only time that showed up was on a hard launch. The mechanical gauge took a quick dive and was back up in the blink of an eye.

Any recommendations on a good oil pan gasket? And, a rear main seal. Figured I would replace that as well while I am at it since I have small leak.

If you are using a stock pan and pickup the pickup needs to be touching the bottom of the pan. Do not set it a quarter inch off the floor. Thats wrong.

Is the bushing that comes with the hardened drive the same inner diameter as a stock drive bushing? If so, any need to replace if the stock is in good condition?
