Getting ready to install new dual exhaust in a 69 Dart with relocated leaf springs. TTI states I must use a fuel cell for their exhaust to fit. Im sure other enthusiast have done this with a regular fuel tank.

Id like to know what you guys have done. Pipe size, location – etc.

Please show me what you’ve done.

Thanks

My 2.5" exhaust is super close... Dr Diff spring relocation.

I can't get pictures til this week end. On my Demon I ran 3" from the headers back. Its mini tubbed, springs moved to frame rails and stock gas tank. The only piece I could use on the TTI tail pipes was up over the axle and the passenger side the down leg going to the back had to be modified. I used "S" pipes that pass over the top of the leaf spring and straight out the back to factory style stainless tips. I am also running a strange S-60 differential, which takes up a little more real estate there, and 28x12x15 Mickey Thompson sportsman s/r tires, with Mopar super stock springs 2800LB. The question every one asks is will the spring hit the pipe. I guess it could but if the spring compresses that far there's a whole lot more gonna get smacked. I did take my time to tuck the pipe as close to the frame as I could as it does follow the frame above the spring for a little ways. I also had to move the hangers at the back of the tail pipe to the outside of the boxed area at the back of the car. I tried all over my area to find a shop that had a mandrel bender but they all have benders that use the dies. So I ordered the tail pipes drug out the tape measure, MIG and saws all and went to town. I did use a clamp where the S pipe connects to the over axle for ease of removal and install so its 2 pieces. Give me a couple days and I will get pictures to post.

I included the “s” pipe kit I used too. Not very clean but I drive it.

If you do a search, you'll find quite a few 2 1\2 - 3" tailpipes with stock tanks, that sneek back to near stock locations, done by fine craftsmen. You'll need to find someone that "wants" to do it..

Thanks for the replies guys !......I knew some of us had to have done this..........

Great info Dubob....I wait to see some pics if you can

See if these help. Best I can do with wheels on. Very snug on passenger side front corner of fuel tank but it clears and don’t hit.

That's a tight fit. I have mine dumped before the axle but would love to run it out the back. Should be much easier with my 2.5 inch exhaust.

Yes 2.5” would be easier. But I’m stubborn sometimes and with the 440 wanted to let it breath. It’s pretty docile til you smack the skinny pedal. Dynomax ultra flows really open up. I had dumps but it would rattle anything around at a stop light and didn’t want to deal with the law. The tailpipes really mellowed it out at idle.

Exactly what I want to do. I have a small block with a modest cam amd chambered mufflers but it's still loud. The carport and windows rattle when I fire it up.

I have sectioned out a stock tank to fit the passenger side.... but after chasing pinholes, I'm leaning towards building a Stainless tank
With an efi pump. Far from taking pictures. Please post what you come up with.

Im running a 340, 2.5" exhaust, springs under frame, had to have valance exits and already made the decision for a trunk mounted fuel cell. I put the exhaust tips where I liked them, reinforced the rear frame opening. Im running the pipe between frame and spare well so next I will open a channel on either side of spare well for a little more clearance and fab in 3" sectioned pipe for a nice channel.

I'd like to see more pics of your car. Do you have a build thread?

Ive got some pics in my Garage. "also "Challenger Cuda Tribute Challenge" thread in members restorations

I managed to install 3 inch mandrel bend from front to back. Only needed some little hammering on the passengerside tailpipe. I am running ss springs with stock location. I still need to install the relocation kit but i see no probs. I used the 3 inch kit from Jegs.

If i were to do it again I would strongly consider the re location kit vs mini tub. Have I seen 295s with re locating? I like that 325s will fit with plenty of room but my decisions have cost A LOT of extra effort.
