What the heck?? I know that guy! Well, don’t KNOW him but I did sell a rolling dakota to him that he’s using the frame for a Studebaker pickup

I don't get how blocking one exhaust tip is going to do much, unless that muffler is divided into two chambers inside, and the side with the valve is a straight pipe? Plus, it looks like it has to be welded in. That will drive away some customers. And they don't even say if it'll add horsepower or not. Anyways, this is kind of a stupid idea.

What you have there is really expensive exhaust leaks. Fangled gadgets!

Maybe I'm getting old, but I'd rather spend my cash on a set of pipes that sound good and flow enough to support my engine. Granted, the ability to go from sounds like sh*t to sounds like sh* but a lot louder from a touch screen may appeal to some. Heck, there are no doubt women out there of all ages who find these sort of things exciting. Buy a set and satisfy your curiosity if you must, but wear protection. LOTS of protection. And change phone numbers often.

I followed a very new looking BMW SUV for several miles yesterday morning. Due to where my headlights shined on the back of his SUV I could see inside his tailpipe tips (two tips on one muffler just like in the advertising above). I could clearly see that inside one of the tips was a butterfly valve. It closed when he accelerated, and opened up when he was coasting or stopped at a light. I watched this valve open/close a few times. The SUV was not loud. I would guess that this system was OEM, and designed to make the thing quiet.

Don't some Corvettes use that technology?

Yes, they do. That corvette probably used the stock setup for the demonstration.
How hard can it be to push a button to open the exhaust? Plus, it looks like they will only work on newer cars with rear mounted mufflers.

OBll from 98 and later?

He must of gotten that great info off of wikipedia.

Someone tell him OBll started in 96

Plus why would you want a quiet corvette?

Anything with respectable power should be loud

Wow, what will they think of next? Oh.....

all the newer performance cars used that tech. Just reroutes it to a straight pipe.

In the BMW world there is the "Golf Tee Mod". The factory muffler has a vacuum operated valve just like the video. Most guys pull the vacuum line off and shove a golf tee in to plug it and the valve defaults to the open position. It makes the idle a tad bit louder and thats about it. Pretty useless technology.
