I have been in and out of the hospital. So many scans and tests I feel like a pin cushion. They couldn't find anything.

My daughter is a regestered nurse and thought I may have Lyme's desease. I remebered having a Tic on my head in november. I got it running the excavator in the woods.

I started a 21 day regime of antibiotics last week on my own that I had to get from a Vetenarian. Been taking them for a week. I am finally feeling well enough to Eat and sit at the computor today. Lost 37 lbs. but feeling alot better. I hope this is going to be what I have.

The doctors couldn't figure it out. Tests were negative but there is a more accurate test they would not do. Obama care doesn't cover it. They would have left me to die.

I Moaned a sweated for almost a month. Constant Severe headache and shakes so bad I couldn't hold a glass of water. I would go through 4-5 T-shirts a night. Alternating stabbing pains in my joints so bad I would get tears. Wish me luck Steve

Ouch. I feel for ya. I have had Lymes 3 times and fortunately the antibiotics took care of it each time. The last time I had it I took a bunch of Aleve along with the Doxycycline and the symptoms weren't quite as bad.
Good luck

Yup, Doxy works well for Lyme. I'm a Hunter and have been bitten many times by Deer Ticks. I always seemed to to have some Doxy left over from trips to Africa, as it is also used to prevent Malaria.

All the very best. Im glad your feeling better. This disease is not recognized enough even here in Canada. I just read a artical not to long ago stating there are more cases now then 5 years ago. It has alot of masking symptoms. Thats what makes it so hard to diagnose. Believe it or not 3 years ago i looked after a woman who broke her ankle camping and at that time got Lymes disease. After her rehab and starting walking from her fractured ankle approx 9months later she was unable to walk , muscle weakness and all. Miss diagnosed with MS ended up finding out she had Lymes disease started treatment and shes up and around again,Thankfully. When it comes to certain things in health care there should be good testing especially if its known to diagnose.Save money on health care, do the appropiate testing instead of emerg. visits, non essential medications, and so on. It costs as soon as you enter the door.Jm2c........Thoughts and prayers are with you.

I had a tic last fall burrow into my belly button at Thanksgiving and was given a single double dose antibiotic though cant remember the name of it and luckily no lyme has shown yet and hopefully wont. F%$k tics are b%#ches

Best wishes and get better soon buddy!

Thanks for checking in with us and letting us know whats happening. I'm glad you are finally getting some treatment. Sure hope it works! You won the battle with your cancer scare, and you can beat this one too! Take care Steve!

My Dad thought he had it, but No Doctor wanted to Really Diagnose it. It is Strange.

Doctors have some really stupid ideas when it comes to Lyme Disease (not Lyme's, fellahs). They regurgitate dumb **** like, "we don't have Lyme disease in Alabama" for example. They may ask you retarded questions like, "Lyme?? Have you been to Conneticut?" as if ticks respected state borders. If a doctor doesn't have the backing of his state medical board, he can face serious scorn for even acknowledging Lyme where they "don't have it". So, on that front...yeah, it's a fight.

Further, the test most commonly administered and horribly inaccurate is called the Western Blot. The test Oldmanmopar referred to that they wouldn't administer is probably the Igenex test. You can take the Western Blot, come back with a negative, and they won't look any further but that test has a very high 'false-negative' rate.

Lyme is a *****. It makes you feel like absolute crap while looking otherwise normal. Prepare to have a lot of people be less than sympathetic for this reason. Best of luck, OMM!

Sounds like you are on the road to recovery. Lyme Disease is mis-diagnosed or not diagnosed most of the time. Good luck to you and keep us posted on your recovery. tmm

There is a reason why they call it "practicing medicine"...good luck in your recovery

theres a blot test to determine if you have lyme, its a parasite that goes through a larva stage and if they run a regular blood test during that stage ,the test comes back negative, they cycle in 2or 3 week cycles like malaria, best thing is find a doctor that specialize in treating lyme, most doctors look at you ,and talk to you like a 5th grader, claiming lyme is a myth, ive had it 2 times and my family doctor laughted at me when i wanted test for lyme, 18 months later, and 50 pounds thinner, got confirmed to have it, took doxy for over a month, but that was 6 years ago , paying the price with bad joints and neck pain, dont be afraid to doctor shop when it comes to your health.

Hang in there, and good luck on getting over whatever it is and back to feeling good soon!

I was bitten in November. first Symtom was bad cold shakes in December. Jan 2nd was the first real sign that I was really sick.

Hospital 3 times and sevaral doctor visits including specialists. None of them diagnosed me with lymes.

It was my daughter a registered nurse who came home to visit that pointed me torward lymes.

My head is finally clear but I feel so weak. there is so much I want to do but just do not have the energy. It takes all I have just to walk to the Garage. Thanks for all the prayers I am on the road to recovery. It just may take some time. Steve
