I’m trying to find what mini alternator works with Indy 360-1 heads.

I’ve read the posts where the Denso alt. seem to be a popular choice for factory heads.
Before ordering one, I would like to hear from someone running these heads and what actually works.

My factory alternator contacts the head. ( I’ll post photos later)

Thanks n advance.

If you have manual steering use the power steering bracket. I rethreaded it to metric and used a metric bolt so it would fit the alternator tight. I went to a micro sprint shop and bought Hyme ends and tie rod and cut the rod down shorter on the right hand thread side to make the adjuster. This way I could rethread that end. I didn't have a left hand tap. The top brace I made from heavy flat stock.

The alternator was a 100 amp GM one wire hooked up with a normally open relay and switch as pictured. If left hooked up the belt would come off a 8000

Thanks Steve, I do have manual steering.
That’s a new twist , I haven’t thought of mounting it on the left side.
Thanks for the photos, I will look into this method.
I appreciate it!

It’s low enough that you can see the timing marks so that’s a bonus.

I have the AR alternator mount but after seeing this I may say screw it and move it down like that.

The biggest issue is I run a Fluidamper and it’s old enough that it doesn’t have the recessed face. I’ve already made the spacers to get the pulleys to line up.

I’m not sure how mounting the alternator down there changes how I space it out.

I also run a mechanical water pump. So I don’t know if that would change anything.

I need to look at it when I get home.

I’ve looked at Andy’s alt mount and like it. I’m just not sure if it would solve my clearance issue or not.
I have a mechanical water pump also and am trying to get the new Cold case radiator, shroud, and low profile fan to fit and it’s not looking good.
Do you know if anyone makes a low profile water pump or, I may have to go electric with this also.
Thanks

If you look I also have a fluidampr without the recess. When you use a older style fluidampr like that on a 70 and up with the aluminum pump use it with the smaller diameter and shorter crank pulley from a Big block. Even if you have power steering like pictured. It puts the pulleys at the correct spot and is under driven
