Hey im looking into mini tubbing my 74 valiant. it has a 8 3/4 rear. i know that i need to inboard it.

my question is how wide of a tire can i fit with mini tubbing it and inboarding it.

the rear end will be stock length and not narrowed. also what offset rim will i need in order to run this tire? i had the thought of it needing a positive offset rim?

If you mini tub and relocate your springs. You should be able to get a tire with 13.5" from side to side. You will have around 14" once you are done inside the wheel well.

I agree, keep section width around 13" A 325-50-15 is a great fit on a mini tubbed A body.

what rim backspacing/offset will i need to get that size tire in there with the stock length 8 3/4?

is the rear an a-body 8-3/4? that will affect what wheel offset is nescessary as well as how wide you can go tirewise

well my scamp has an a body 8-3/4 stock length and I am going to run a 325/50/15 on it....as far as wheels go, im going to 15x10 (since thats the measuring rim the manufacturer used) but not yet sure of backspace..gonna probably be somewhere around 6 1/4, but i havent measured yet

ok because i was going to run a 15x10 also. so when you find a measurement let me know because im in the blue right now because im not anywere near the car for a few months

well im not going to actually be putting wheels and tires on ym scamp until next may at the earliest....i suggest you talk to other members and do some measurements of yourself....check out www.bigblockdart.com and go to the tech pages....they have a pretty good explanation on measuring for wheelsize and determining the correct backspaing you need to run depending on your tire

I have a mini-tub powerpoint presentation someone else did. Shoot me an e-mail address via PM and I'll be happy to forward it.

does the presentation talk about wheel/ tire fitment and max width/ height?

Get his power point it is very helpful to have some pictures and direction as you go. As far as i remember it does not get into tire fitment and wheel size. Good luck and take your time.
Matt
