My 1969 Plymouth Valiant V100 rebuild

-
wow, really moving along on this. looks great. hope the ribs are feelin' better, it's miserable when you have something your itching to get to and can't

ribs are better but there is still places on this car I cant get to. especially in the trunk area. But I hope to get these areas sprayed color by the end of the weekend.

1 thing I would do and did to mine when in the trunk is spray some primer or paint on the underside of the dutchman panel and package tray. They are bare metal

I have made up my mind.. I love this resto.. Factory sock.. not straying away in any way.. after I get my dart done .. I will be looking for a car like this to do like this, Thanks a lot for sharing this!

update on the Valiant build. I dropped off the front bench seat to the upholstery shop picking out new covering for the front seat and planning on doing the rear seat to match when he called me yesterday telling me that he found the original seat material from SMS out in Oregon. so that is great. not only will the seats stay factory it saves me a lot of money.
Also, we finished up the engine bay, trunk area and door jambs and got them painted.

In the last couple of days we also finished up getting the 4 doors ready for paint and painted them yesterday. I didn't know if I was going to like them but they turned out real nice. They are painted just how they came from the factory. black and gold with a black panel. It looks like I may be ordering new black panels for them because this car has to be nice when done. We also painted the underside of the hood and deck lid and put them on the car. today we spent working on my truck but did manage to hang 3 of the doors and get them aligned. will post more pics as we progress.

The new door weatherstrip and door bumpers will be here on Monday. Have ordered a new chrome mirror for the driver side door and the new cat whiskers will go on next.

new weatherstrip , door bumpers, trunk bumpers came in and today the new chrome mirror for the driver side door came in. also, I have decided to re-do the door panels myself and save between 5-$600. The vinyl looks good but the 1/8" backing board was wharped on all 4 doors making the panels look like crap. So I separated the vinyl and went to Home Depot and bought a sheet of 1/8 " hardboard ( Masonite ) and I am going to cut the pattern from the old board and make new backings for the vinyl. I have ordered 2 yards of landau 1/8 " padding to go between the vinyl and the backing board and also ordered new clips. Next week will be door panel build week.

managed to get back to working on the Valiant door panels and finally got them done. I think they turned out nice. I am happy with them. Cut the backer board out of 1/8" Masonite. traced them off of the old ones. cut the holes. peeled the old padding off of the old vinyl. Took the vinyl and wrapped it around the new backer board and used the adhesive and glued the ends on the back. I tried to staple the vinyl on the first one and that didn't work too well because the vinyl was stiff and it cracked the vinyl when I stapled it so I took painters tape and came from underneath the vinyl and taped it down on the back until it dried. let it stand about a day or two and then removed the tape. stayed in place real good. Bought new clips and will probably install the panels in the car over the weekend.

Looks great. You gotta improvise when you get out of the mainstream stuff.

Had to pull the windshield and back glass out to replace the clips. finally found clips that would work. The original ones are hard to come by.

You know the saying "if momma is happy, everybody is happy"
I took the car cover off the wife's CJ-5 over the weekend, she drove it to work yesterday and made the comment how much she missed driving the jeep.
We keep the CJ stored during the winter.

have not updated this in awhile but the work still is going on. managed to get it painted.
