Need help from the dog lovers, especially those in AZ...

Lori and I have 2 dogs....a female(unspade) Jack Russell named Jemma and a male(denutted) Black Lab named Rufus. Jemma the Jack is the "prima-donna", dominant, super jealous, you name it. If she is on my lap and Rufus comes over loking for attention, she nips at him. She has nipped people on the ankles as well when they come over. This is I think due to people not paying attn to her right away when they arrive. Jemma is the dominant one for sure. Being almost 17 years old, she is kinda set in her ways. She isnt a mean dog, she loves Rufus very much and its funny to watch her in heat and "stand" for Rufus. In the 4 years the 2 dogs have known each other there has never been a fight. But she definitely puts all dogs in their place. They are a very unique breed, and in my opinion if your Aunt is going to bed, she should have picked up Abbey and took her to her room. I hope things all work out for all of you. Great looking dogs by the way!

Thanks everybody! Abbey and Jemma sound a lot alike. Abbey is a bit more outgoing tho, she has no problem trying to put my two girls down, but doesn't seem to understand that Hope simply won't take it anymore. When Hope was finally big enough to to reach the couch with her front feet, she sniffed around Abbey and Abbey tried to take a chunk out of her face (cut Hope'ss nose and drew blood). Hope was just curious and didn't do anything really, but Abbey got po'd about Hope getting in "her" space. We didn't have any other problems with them until now. Unfortunately I messed up my knee in the scuffle last night, but I am hoping that more exercise varied play time outside of the house, for all three of them, will do some good. I can't afford a trainer or behaviorist, which is what everyone recommends. So will see how things go once I am mobile enough again to exercise them.
