I have a 67 barracuda with the original rocker moldings. They never been off. I am the third owner. I am throwing around the idea of taking them off & the wheel well moldings. Is it rare to see 67 barracudas with them ? Are they an option for that year ? How are fastened ? Will there be wholes that ill have to weld up or are there studs ? The car will never be put back to original. The original engine, trans & rear are gone ( not by me) Would they be worth selling ? If they are only worth a couple of bucks ill hang on to them. As some of you know it can be a pain in the butt to ship something like that. This is my first 67 only ever had 69s Thanks for any info

They are held on by clips, so there will be holes to fill. They snap on over the clips. They are worth about $200 for a set, more if you can retain the clips in good condition. They’re a pretty rare option, and a good sell because of their rarity. Nella’s car came with them, but they were not on it when I got it, when I went back to the original owners house to show him the car, he pulled them down from the rafters of the garage and handed them to me. I was elated to get them and they have been back in place ever since.

yeah, trim code, order option, The rocker moldings are different on every year model fish. The 68 type called spears and gills might have been most popular and most ordered but any of them are pretty rare. More so today due to many of the low numbers produced being damaged. VGC are quite valuable today.
Why dealers and customers would order wheel opening moldings without the rocker moldings... Cost was a factor. Wheel opening moldings are easily thrown on with a hand full of screws. The rocker moldings have special plastic clips on little studs welded to the body, and screw holes in fenders and quarters depending on which type. If I see one with rocker moldings and without the wheel opening moldings, I assume the wheel opening moldings were removed by owner.
Back in their day there were old farts who were dedicated to taking care of their investments. They would remove the 2 bolts from below the dog leg section of fender and pull out on the fender some to flush out the pine needles and other debris trapped there. They had seen the rust caused by trim on vehicles too. So they had there reasons for not wanting rocker moldings even though they could afford the option.

I've sold them for much more than $200! Unless they are dinged up or rotted you should leave them on. As said above, there will be holes to fill and paint needed.

My opinion is to leave them on, they add some style. If you do decide to take them off be extremely careful. If you can get a couple friends to help on each side. They bend really easy.

I have them on my car, they were added by my grandfather shortly after he got the car new.

The trim is RARE, the exact correct clips can be had new from Restoration Specialties.

I would keep, for all the reasons listed above, and I'm one who's not too concerned with originality.

My 67 didn't have them new, but po put on 68 wheel moldings and front/rear window moldings. Window moldings I'll keep, imo no brainer compared to 67, wheel moldings keep, for now, if I ever painted I might leave off. No desire to add the rocker moldings but if it came with them I'd keep.

I would be worried about damaging them, just not sure if rocks or road debris can destroy them with one good shot.
Do those with them put on 'mud flaps' or the like?

It is More work to do on the car if you remove the rocker moldings but i think the car would look a lot cleaner without them. Just my opinion though. You could always sell them and put the funds back into the car.

Its going to be some time before I have the funds to do the body & paint. Im just going to drive it for now. When the time comes I am thinking of the dodge color DESTROYER GRAY with black & gray interior Like I said im not sure yet kicking the idea around the welding & body work doesn't bother me now if I was offered big bucks for them & clips that's a different story lol they are in really nice shape if I do take them off it will be before I start driving it so nothing happens to them
