New progress pics.

Yeah, they are just buzzed for now, I gotta polish them for a more uniform look.

The tranny was not sliding in too well until we pushed the throwout bearing with a pry bar, thern the input shaft went right in.

I went ahead and used the roller bushing instead of the brash bushing, but I bought a brass one just in case I had problems.

Can't wait to get a pistol grip in there, and I was even thinking of fabbing up a real pistol grip from a real pistol, but I also like the inland shifter with the reverse lockout.

Oh you're not done with the valve covers? Man they look good now.

Yeah that's the same problem I was having was getting input shaft to go in while everything (pressure plate, clutch) had pressure on it. The main problem for me was there was no "we" it was just "me". If I had someone to push the clutch pedal in the input shaft probably would have fell in! LOL!

I need more friends.

There are what four different types of pistol grip shifters? I don't know which one to get without it being to long or to short. (reference only)

There is something that I can't figure out with my transmission. Most of the 833 reverse is over and up. Mine is over and back? Why is that? Is something hooked up wrong? It works is all that matters I guess.

I have no idea on that one.

I was going to see how good the inland felt with it's contour and if I liked that try to get the closest pistol gripper of that shape.

That inland shifter was a big hunk of rust, but i worked it over with some nevr dull and steel wool and it cleaned up good as new.

I am also researching what electronic ignition controller and rev limit box to get.
I like the price of the summit box compared to the MSD stuff.

What are you guys using for ecu's and rev limiters?

Oh, ps, if you use that nevr dull for a long period of time, wear gloves, I started having chest pains and my throat was closing up a bit from a reaction to whatever is in that stuff.

It's nevr dull minute with you around is it!

Bwwhhaahhahaha! I'm sorry I couldn't help it!

Chest pains?? Wow that is some bad stuff.

That was funny.

Hey Ax', what coil are you using with that box?
The install instructions say it works best with the accel p# 140009 coil.

For a short time I had an E body pistol grip in the Sublime 70 340 duster I had. It hit the dash in 1 and 3, and (even with ape arms) I had to lean a bit forward to grab it. I've heard the 71 up B body pistol grip is a better choice for an A body. But I didn't (and still don't) have one to try out

Mullinax95 on your shift pattern, my guess is the reverse arm on the tranny is pointed down. I think it should be pointed up, if you try that and the shifter arm doesnt reach, then flip the arm over, that should correct the clocking. Of course if you are used to it, just leave it the way it is, it won't hurt anything.

Thanks Charger! I thought it was something like that. The reverse arm is pointing down matter of fact. I'll check it out sometime. If I got a pistol grip or any other shifter with the shift pattern on the stick then it would not match my true shift pattern of the transmission. I guess that wouldn't matter.

Sorry spaz about the high jacking.

No sweat,

Just don't let anyone else drive your car with the shift pattern not matching the knob.
I doub't you would let anyone do that anyways though.

I'm thinking the same thing. They will set there for days trying to get in reverse unless I tell them. I might need to try and fix that.

I might not go with the original looking pistol grip shifter after all because I have a line lock. There is really no where to put the line lock switch in a reasonable place on a original type shifter. I might get one like FASTBACK has with the line lock button.

the engine bay is looking great! You probably did a better job putting your engine in than i did, i had to do some touch up painting afterwards. The only other thing i gotta say is those ignition wires are out of control! i got some wire looms and they really clean them up nice. Especially since i have a black engine bay, black valve covers, black wires and black wire looms. Good luck with getting it back together and firing it up! Its a great feeling!

Yeah, they are all probably in the wrong locations as well.
Just threw the cap on and put the wires sorta on the motor and snapped a pic since it's not quite prepped to burn fuel yet.

I'll make ya proud when the time comes though ya'.

Lookin' good Cudaspaz -
The difference is truly in the details!

If you don't like the motor paint, pull it back out and repaint it. Now's the time to fix it. It's better to spend a few more hours now making it the way you want it, than bitching about it later. For what it's worth, I think it's the wrong shade too...... I'd change it.
