Hello everyone, to introduce myself I'm Jake, I just bought a 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger and am happily back with a Mopar. I have a basic 318 2bb that I am going to swap out for a 360 sooner or later. Here's a few questions. Will a 360 fit in there easily with no major modifications? On the build sheet it says that the transmission is a D34 Torqueflight Trans, is that a 904? What trans would be best for a 360 that will be getting under 450 hp? Last thing, I have a 7 1/4 rear end which needs to be swapped for something better but what would be the best rear end for this kind of build?

Thank you guys a ton for this help, I'm glad to be in a Dart again!

Hi Jake. Welcome to FABO from another SoCal member. You will have fun here!
To answer your questions:
* A 360 is dimensionally identical to both the 318 and 340 so will fit with ease
* D34 is the factory code for the 'standard duty' Torqueflight. D31 is shown as a 'lightduty' 904. I'm thinking you probably have a 727.
* Your 7-1/4 rearend won't live behind a healthy 360. Suggest you upgrade to either a 8-1/4 for general cruising or a 8-3/4 if you plan to drive more 'spirited'.

Welcome back to Mopar from whatever 'darkside' you were. Great techs and great people on this site.
Post some pics of your new toy. We love pics!
