More "Silly Season" happenings for the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Season continue to happen so I thought we might as well have a single thread to post them all to:
  • NHRA.com (Nov. 20): Announcement that Morgan Lucas Racing will not be running their 2nd car [the Protect The Harvest/MavTV Top Fuel dragster] during the 2014 series since they no longer have the extra funding to go along with the Lucas Oil funding. That put Brandon Bernstein out of the driver seat and Joe Barlam out as the Crew Chief. Both of them started work the very next day as part of Al-Anabi Racing - Brandon as Al-Anabi Racing's General Manager and Joe as the assistant crew chief on Khalid al-Balooshi's gold Top Fuel car. Here's a link to the complete story: http://www.nhra.com/story/2013/11/20/bernstein-barlam-al-anabi/
  • NHRA.com (Nov. 20): Veteran crew chief Lee Beard has been named Top Fuel and Funny Car consultant to NHRA and will work closely on Top Fuel and Funny Car initiatives with NHRA’s tech department
  • NHRA.com (Nov. 21): Less than a month ago there was an announcement that Gray Motorsports and Cagnazzi Racing were joining forces to run a 3-car Pro Stock team in 2014 with Shane Gray, Dave Connolly and Erica Enders-Stevens as drivers. Today the announcement comes out that Erica has left and joined Elite Motorsports for a guaranteed fulltime ride to drive their Camaro in 2014; it will be tuned by the father/son duo of Rick and Rickie Jones.

So have I got this?

The U.S. which started drag racing, pretty much, can no longer afford the fuel, which we are buying from the Arabs, so now we are just gonna WORK for em?

Not buying much from the Arabs anymore.
The US can't refine all that we have now.
The oil companies have a neat trick, they send the crude overseas to have it refined into gasoline & diesel, then sell it to the highest bidding countries.
Meanwhile, back in the US, they tell us how scarce it is & thats why prices stay inflated.
The USA is on track to be the largest oil producing nation in 2015.
The Arab's are kinda crapping their pants.
That was the main reason for the Americans to be there, to protect the oil reserves.

I wonder when the first racer will get up on the podium & praise allah for his win.
Afterall, he is being paid by the Arab's.

The arabs have been paying the bills for 4 years on the two top fuel cars, as well as an alcohol funny car and a bunch of pro mods. They are also putting up prize money for the ADRL racing series.

Thanks for the thread, I'm subscribed!!!!

Going to be interesting the first few races in P/S. I know no one is sitting on their backsides this off season, but if Roy, AJ, and Jeg, can get their act together early, i could see a clean sweep at the Winternationals.:D

I bet Greg Anderson is fit to be tied knowing that some of Edwards hardware and knowledge is getting spread out among other teams...lol.
