I've stopped watchin any of his nonsense at this point. I think the writers and producers have had a hand in his "dumbing down".
I quit watching a long while back , when he " tried" to tear a hemi down !!

Same here, very easy to catch on the dyno if you check the oil and/or detect massive blowby like a steam engine. I would've thought he would want to show something like that or even after the block had 8 sleeves installed. J.RobWhat i would like to know is how the cylinder got cracked .
You were taught correct, unless You're seeing obvious signs of excess fuel burning/smoking/popping in the exhaust, the timing is way behind. I never cease to be amazed at 'Pros' who can't figure out how to get that right before even hooking the f'n battery up, unbelievable.......I was shocked that he let those new TTI headers glow like that! I was always taught that when the headers glow the timing is quite retarded.
Anyone see the latest stroke of genius from Nick?
I stopped watching Nick awhile back, but I just had to see how he was going to murder this Hemi, I wasn't disappointed. what the hell Nick.

They always narrate his videos with something like "Nick has over 20 years of dyno experience....", as if somehow none of the engine failures could ever be his fault. lol
Could well have been."We have to figure out why this happened" Well.... a idiot saw a hurt motor and decided to put it under load and spin it to 6500.....
Betting the whole issue was a tight ring gap that popped a land on that piston
Even with my terrible hearing, I was hearing it too. It was all a setup.I started hearing a ticking sound around the 10:00 timeframe as he was adjusting the idle speed.
Yeah. You'd think he would have done a leakdown/compression test before pushing it like that. Like all of us have done, he just missed it... and it cost.Even with my terrible hearing, I was hearing it too. It was all a setup.

Usually you can catch this type of thing well before it goes catastrophic. There are always signs. Valvetrain is where noises can indicate rocker to retainer contact or retainer to guide issues both of which can lead to a dropped valve. Either way it doesn't look good on anybody. Looked to have decent parts, inspecting the surviving components will likely reveal the root cause, but for a forged piston to turn to rubble like that means this was happening for some time. That didn't happen in the last 300rpm. J.RobYeah. You'd think he would have done a leakdown/compression test before pushing it like that. Like all of us have done, he just missed it... and it cost.
