You can see chunks of face and probably teeth as his face is dragged into the chuck. NONE of those guys was dressed appropriately to be around power equipment. You just DON'T wear loose or long sleeve shirts.

scary, very scary!

I didn't need to see that.
I don't work around lathes anymore.
I still dream though.
Seeing it could help someone else.
We'll never know why there was a camera positioned over that job.

I wondered about the camera thing too. Strange that none of them even appear to even try to be safe. Also they don't seem to know what to do in an emergency. I got the idea they didn't even know how to shut it down.

I think this is in "one of those other countries." After some events, especially recent ones like the Costa Concordia sinking, and the Korean ferry disaster, as well as some others, it's pretty evident that lots of people around the world

don't have or get adequate training

don't have the motivation to either work safe, or pitch in to help when safety is an issue

or have the ability to really, "think."

I'm surprised at the fact that they even allowed him NEAR a lathe with long sleeves! Where I was taught, (A family friend) and at school, we were to NOT be wearing ANY long sleeves at "shop time" or you simply sat out and didn't get to use the machines, PERIOD....Even my family friend, you had a long sleeved shirt on, you just couldn't remove the shirt and continue on, a shirt in a shop is also a protective wearing, BUT a short sleeved shirt, so bare chested, was no answer to the problem!

I just look at some of the accidents thats happened over the years and it amazes me how people "work" or have worked to make some of our OSHA laws in-force, today!

Its not just other countries, where I work, I see short cuts being taken to reduce costs. It disgusts me, and I hope none of my co-workers get taken out by these 'proffit enhancers'.

If this is a safety violation, you need to figure out a way to report it. Protect yourself
