Anyone know exactly what size, or what the generic o-ring part number is, for the dipstick tube on a 727? Thanks!

I would take the tube to a "real" parts store like NAPA and have them dig through their jobber drawers for one that is the correct diameter and cross section. You may get lucky buying a $10 kit at harbor freight but the cross section on those are kinda small if I recall. The flat shape is most likely deformation on an old ring and probably the reason they start leaking.

The newer ones are a sleeve, I forget if they fit the old transmissions/ dipsticks.

At some point they changed the design. I know mine has just the o-ring. So to pay $15 for this kit would be silly, for me. It was a bad idea to just re-use the old o-ring.

I got a decent sized assortment of O-Rings at HF several years ago. It has come in very handy on many occasions. Check it out.

If you've got a transmission shop in your area, they should have that o ring. Go and ask them.
