OK, help me plan out my shop!

Yeah, I think I'm going to ditch the idea of using the corner to make an L shape bench. When I think back, I suppose my initial idea was to have the benches up against the back wall. Seems like the most logical place.

That corner where the step is just aggravating me though, I know it's gonna end up being dead space. :banghead:

Corner tables would depend on the tools you have. I have the counter going around 1 corner of the garage. It is a collect all spot. So I keep my bench top drill press and miter saw in the corner. Keeps me from cluttering the corner with stuff.

I would line the tables along 1 wall. First take the table with the legs, set the back legs on the step with the table pushed against the wall. Now find something to put under the front legs to level it. Once you have the height of that table, attach a 2x4 along the wall to support the back of the unfinished table. Now make legs for the front out of 2x4.Then I would mount the gray cabinets over the tables. Lots of shelving brackes mounted to studs with 1x whatever you can get for small light items like paint cans oil cans or even power tools.
Just some ideas with out knowing everything you have or the size of anything.

OK, I think I have sort of arrived at a good solution. The work benches are going to be up against the back wall. I just don't see how else to do it.

I scrapped the idea of using the corner, I just could not make it work. I guess I will figure something out with that little step in the slab but I am not going to go nuts over it.

So I need to make a bench for the table top. I am a member of the Garage Journal. I see lots of guys over there integrating their tool boxes with their workbenches so that's my plan for that. I may get another box, the little roll around box I have is pretty much useless.

The tables don't exactly line up flush and are different heights. I can deal with the different heights but I would like a long work surface. The unfinished one is the deepest so I am going to try and line up the brown one with the front of the unfinished one. I may put a little shelf over the back splash on the brown table to fill in the space behind it.

The one on the far left is one I made. It weighs about 1,000 lbs but is relatively small. I might put a vise on that one. Not sure yet.

Cabinets and/or shelves will probably be mounted between the windows.

I will probably end up putting a compressor in the corner where the gray shelves are. For the right side wall, I looked at some heavy duty boltless shelves at Home Depot. I can get a pretty big unit for under $200. I'd rather buy one off CL for cheap but I never seem to have the time to go look at this stuff. Anyway...

Here is a mock up pic, let me know what you think.
