buyer, small price to pay for instant gratification, but i never charge it anyway, Im just happy to sell it. waiting for a MO sucks. Especially when 3 other guys are waiting for the promised money order to come so they can move on.

Seller, instant gratification, small price to pay if they don't want to wait for a money order in the mail, or sitting at home waiting for a bunch of no shows with promises of cash.
Lets face it, there are benefits to both parties. Maybe split the fee.

Just got hit for $2199.00 on my PP account.
Seems I bought a laptop that wasn't authorized by me.

First time I ever got ripped off.

They tell me I should have my money back in my PP account in 6-8 days.
Then I can transfer it back to my bank.

Also, something I wasn't aware of, if you have overdraft protection, they will pay anything that comes up. Even if you don't have the cash in your account.

I had 2K in it, so I was short the 199.00. The bank paid it.
I took the overdraft off the account, since I don't write checks unless I have the cash to back it up.

Since this is my race account, I had to ask the wife for 2k to put back in to cover my outstanding checks.

I hate crooks!

I never questioned the Paypal fees as a seller. 3% is a small enough percentage for the convenience offered. It's just part of the cost of doing business.
As for the Friends and Family feature, I have told several people on this site NOT to pay me that way...for a couple of reasons. First, I may not be out to screw you, but the next guy might be. Don't get into the habit of paying people you don't know in a way that removes any protection you may have. Second, I may not be out to screw you, but if the earth opens up and swallows me before I can get your part in the mail, I want you to be covered.

I like the way you think. I've boughten from you and had no problems. I've had good luck on this site.

I suggest again, to have a separate account solely for PayPal,, and never keep but a few $$, till you need to buy something,, then a puter/phone transfer to the acct takes a couple klics..

Also, don't attach your Visa/MC to Paypal,, if you have,, change your card, you prob should change it every coupla years if the Card # is frequently used over the net..

That should be decided when you go to purchase. It could be posted in the add or it could be decided in price negotiations. If you are selling and you didn't specify, it's on you. If you are the buyer and you didn't get that specified it's on you. You neglected to clarify so you have to pay the stupid tax... if it is a burden you will remember to deal with that issue next time.
