Please be careful and check those jack stands one more time

Man... So sorry to hear. My condolences

Thats why I have 10 jack stands. I don't ever want to burned alive or crushed.
Worse yet be slowly crushed and nobody know.
If I have one end in the air, I use at least four...the whole car, I might use all ten, plus the jack if it's not in the way.

Condolences to both you and Kent's family. I know this is a tough time for all.

Additional warnings to all the rest of us - you don't have to be under the car to be injured or killed.
* I lost a friend about 10 years ago that was working on his car and had it up on jack stands. The jacks shifted and the car fell to the side pinning him between the car and his motorhome. He was alone at the time. His wife found him when she returned home from shopping.
* One of my car club buddies wasn't injured but his car was damaged recently. He'd had the front of the car up on ramps and the rear up on jack stands while he worked under the car. When taking the rear off of the jack stands he raised the back with his hydraulic floor jack, pulled the jack stands and started to lower the rear of the car. When he had raised the rear in order to remove the jack stands, evidently the floor jack pulled the car backwards to where the front tires were right at the edge of the ramp. As he was lowering the rear, the tires were pulled onto the ramp and the car started rolling backwards down the ramps. He tried to stop it but ultimately had to jump out of the way and the left rear quarter hit the side of the garage door opening leaving a nice dent in the pristine body and paint.

Good point OC

+1 on seeing cars fall sideways off stands..

If your on asphalt use plywood under the stands cuz when it's hot out the stands will sink...

Sorry for your loss. It's never easy.
