Been chasing an intake problem all summer. Thought for sure it was sucking oil through the valley. Showed all the symptoms.
Finally used the Hughes method to check it and had it milled perfectly. Definitely sealed up good.

Drove the car 20 or 30 miles and checked plugs. STILL showing a bit of oil.

Here's what I know forsure.

Intake sealed
Aint rings. The oil is actually puddling on closed intake valves.
Brand new Viton valve seals

So I am runnung a CNC ported to the hilt pair of Indy/RHS heads and I'm wondering if they could be ported so much as to cause a porosity type issue. They were ported so much that the porting went in the the valve cover bolt holes a bit. I was told to put a bit of silicone on the threads at install. Also since I'm running a pretty big solid roller and lifters with pushrod oiling I was told to make a couple "setscrews" with .030 holes to screw into the heads to restrict oil there. This makes me wonder also...

So the engine made really good power on the dyno and runs great.....but eventually my plugs will foul again.

I'm just thinking that maybe my heads are the whole problem. I'm afraid they're over ported. Is this possible?

I've really been chasing this issue since late April, and after getting the intake milled properly and all sealed, I thought all would be good. I'm real close to throwing these heads in the trash.

They do get thin close to the push rods especially if you are making room for Manton or other fatties......

Pull the intake manifold and prime the engine with a drill motor. Look for leaks in the intake ports. We had a set of heads ported so much the porting went into the head bolt holes and they were sleeved with brass tube. The rocker arm oil in the head bolt hole was leaking around the sleeve and into the intake ports.

Pretty much all cylinders. Not running a PCV but REALLY open to suggestions. It's just enough of a prob that I wondered if the PCV might just help out. No vacuum ports on a HP950 carb, so where would I run it?

Man I wish I woulda though of checking the ports while priming......I just put the intake on Monday, for the 4th time this season. Frustrating.
