Prayers requested for my Dad please

-
Dad and his wife both entered a nursing home this evening. His wife was there previously for rehab so it's a place we've been to before. It is a big relief to know they are safe. He had become a danger to himself and others. You might not realize just how fast dementia can progress, or what form it can take. For example, Dad has no concept of time anymore, so he would want to leave the house in the middle of the night. Fortunately even in (or because of) his confused state of mind, he is agreeable about the move. We're praying they see that their life was unmanageable and now it will be easier.

On a lighter note, Dad keeps telling me he's going to visit his daughter-in-law's farm this summer, and learn to ride a horse. Funny because as far back as I can remember he always told us he didn't like horses.

God Bless, David. I see something similar, in my future.

Been wondering how your Pop has been doing. Sounds like, as difficult as this may have been, was for the best.

having went thru this with my mother 10-12 years back,,,, all i can say is it totally heartbreaking. I could not stand to see her like that.

lighter note. I had made a trip back home to visit. on the kitchen table sat a pile of bank statements. overdraft fees!!!!! ( she had adequate income).
I asked her why overdrawn. she told me she was sure she had money, she still had checks!!!!!!

Glad to hear he is better. Get him checked out though. Our thoughts are with you. tmm

One day at a time, and be glad for every time you can talk to him. Thoughts and prayers for you all.

I sincerely thank you for your prayers. Dad was able to go back home, it seemed unwise to me, and there was more than one scary incident. Dementia is strange; he thinks there are two houses and two wives, yet when I can ask him about a fender-bender we had in 1965 he remembers every detail down to how many stiches I got. And he's almost always super cheerful.

He is having surgery on his vertebrae Wednesday, to alleviate pain and numbness he's having. They say it's not risky. Knowing the permanent effects the anesthesia has had in the past, I'm going to see him tomorrow. He'll go into a rehab place/nursing home in a few days, and probably not come home again. Again I'm asking whoever is willing, if you would say a prayer for him.

You got prayers from me David. Difficult situation to deal with I'm sure....

Stay strong :angel11:

If you would say a prayer for him you ask :glasses7: Yes I will and continue my prayers for you and the safe travels you are taking ,Bless you sir for being there for your father :color:
