No doubt about it....We had been watching the inventory on these engines for a week or two and it seemed they were out of stock at many vendors....I was really surprised that both were sold the same day

No. Still waiting for delivery. Painting the engine compartment and working on a Hydramax hydraulic master cyl install. Haven’t decided yet if that was a mistake? lol. Thanks!

Engine arrived yesterday truck freight. 1 week from order date. Well packaged and dyno numbers higher than advertised. So far very pleased. I have several questions but probably should start a new thread. NOTHING Wrong. Just my ignorance being new to Chrysler products in general.

Not sure what a 1971cy is? lol. But here’s the engine. Pardon my cluttered mess in the garage. I’m going to use a set of vintage Gardena Ca Cal Custom valve covers and will be repainting the engine soon. I know the stripes are not correctly placed or correct period for a 72 Twister. But it is an A51 car on the fender tag. Not that means anything or important for that matter.

We were just lucky Summit had two in stock at the time we purchased it. I had looked at those for a couple weeks before we decided to buy. Then surprisingly both engines were sold within 24 hrs. Someone else must have been watching the inventory also.

Runs great. Glad we chose to go with the Blueprint engine. I had to do a kind of makeshift torque limiter as I twisted the driver engine mount sideways.

I sure wish I would have read this post before installing my 408 Blue print Stroker in my 71 duster with headers. Once I got the motor in and bolted up to the mounts the Boss on the side of the block prevented me from bolting up my header to the head and I did not want to have to remove the steering linkage along with lifting the engine to remove the header enabling me to dent this area in as that would be a PITA and more time consuming so what I did was use a 2"x2" treated piece of wood about 12" in length and I positioned it on the 3rd header tube where it was hitting the boss and from underneath the car I took a BFH hitting the bottom of the 2x2 a number of times, about 12 swings and I was able to dent this area of the header in enough so that I could bolt it up to the head. I got lucky in doing this. No vibration or exhaust leak in this area. Whew !!!
Glad you got it in! Is this a "Magnum" related interference, or possibly a header brand/shape deal? The magnum blocks are hand picked to have the LA motor mounts. (Some do also have the magnum bosses, bit those are pretty flat to my memory).
I have always laid my headers in place before dropping the engine in. Was that possible? Just asking for future installers. Most inexpensive headers I have seen, have the drag link going through the tubes. Of course never mentioned in the instructions...and takes either knowing it already, or doing it the wrong way to realize it.

Yes it is a Magnum and yes I had my headers laying in the bay before dropping the engine In. The headers that I am running are Hookers long tube.
Sorry, what I was asking is...... is the interference point related to it being a Magnum block, vs an LA block? Like is the magnum fatter than the LA where you had to ding it?
