Rear Distribution Block

On my '63 Dart with manual drum brakes, what's the cap for on the rear distribution block? My front doesn't have it.

I had to put a little heat on the block to get the rear lines off and I want to make sure I didn't ruin anything.

It's a vent. Here's one Doctor Diff sells. It goes through the distribution block.
