Hi Folks

The car is a shell, and these are brand rear new springs. Can I expect them to settle significantly once it gets loaded up? Running P205-70-14's.

I don't want to de-arch....Is reversing the front spring hanger an option with no ill effects?

Thank FABO

It will settle like 4spd mentioned. but may be not "Substantually". Build it then set the suspension.

Build- gravity alone will settle them. The weight of all the other stuff will too along with driving. Every bounce the springs loose a fraction of the previous height. Just like wind mills and solar panels they degrade with use. I grant you it is slight. On my 340 4 speed Demon the MP super stock springs after 15 years are exactly where I want them. lol!

How old is that pic? Surely it's not that nice today in northern Ontario? lol It will settle some but maybe not as much as you would like
LOL...I wish! September 2024. This morning we woke up to minus 30........But I don't have to preach to the choir about the cold in Saskatchewan :)

Yeah, radio just said -49 with windchill for us. Has the car settled any since then?

It's been sitting on a hoist since then hanging. Can't get the wheels on and the front suspension set until the damn proportioning valve kit gets here (had to remove a few things to get easy access to it)......Canada Post sure threw a wrench into my plans......First time in my life that I had to pay interest on an outstanding bill that I didn't receive :(

Go get 4 or 5 of your heaviest friends.

Have 2 stand on the k frame.
2 sit between the rear seats and front seats
One in the trunk, that can be a lighter one.

2x 200 lbs on k frame engine
2 x 200 lbs inside is interior and transmission
1x 150 in the trunk, spare tire and more interior and trans

Then take a photo.

It will give you a feel.

If nothing else it will make for great garage wall art.

I'll throw my hat in the ring here.
The post #11 by Dana67Dart is right on the money.
Do you know what springs you have, and are they Super Stocks?
If they are, then when I had the 002 and 003 Super Stock springs on my '74 Dart Sport, they settled about an inch or so in 2 years.
It was a little high when they were new, and settled to a perfect ride height after awhile.
I had 255-60-15s on the back and 225-70-14s on the front and it looked good with the rake that it gave the car, but I am old school and like my cars higher on the back end...
If you are running Super Stock springs in the back, make sure you are running the longer shocks and a longer rubber brake hose from the body to the diff.
I used the hose for a pickup and the shocks were M.P. ones for the application, but Imperial ones would be fine too.
Don't use air shocks!

Could you post before and after side shots of that sporty dart please?

@CFD244 what springs are they?
I bought them from the dealer.......I don't believe that they were the 002 and 003 springs, but the next step down. I know that the right spring was clamped differently in the forward section. When they were installed, the right side sat higher than the left. As such, I ordered a second left and run it on the right side as well. Now it sits even.

One thing: after you have the car fully assembled and loaded, loosen all the suspension bolts that have bushings — eye bolts, control arm pivots, shock ends, etc. — and bounce it. Then torque them with the proper weight on the car.

You could have the Mopar XHD springs as the left and right also have the leaves set differently.

I think P4510268 and P4510269 are the XHD part numbers with the ‘69’ being the drivers side. I wound up buying two drivers side springs so the car had the same stance at the rear.

Sounds like we are on the same page. I believe those are my numbers as well.....And, I did the same thing.

XHD’S haven’t been available for some time now. I suspect if he says it’s the ones the ‘next step down’ that he ordered the 2800lb springs which from what I understand and have read (hard to find info on these) were fashioned after the pro gas / super gas car (p4120863,p4120864) springs which actually have a higher amount of arch the the regular 3200lb SS springs.

@CFD244 could you look at the part number on them and report back. Very curious about this

The left one is 4510269 the mate is buried out in the shop somewhere.
Lucky you. Xhd’s . They should probably level out once the car is built. You must have gotten them awhile ago? They aren’t available from the dealer anymore.
