What's the area like? Is it middle class or slum, suburb or industrial area, well maintained or run down?

Without going into too much detail, let's just I know someone there and I need to know what, if anything, she may have gotten herself into.

Not a good area, havent been there in a while but last time I was it didnt look pretty. Lots of Crime.....
I would go there in the Dark...

it does boarder detroit, but theres some nice areas. im assuming you mean redford township, as the town of redford was absorbed by detroit a long time ago.

not that bad the further west you get, the farther east closer to detroit. I picked up a gold duster in redford years back

look there are good and bad areas in the detriot metro are were ever you go i live in Shelby Twp. north of Detroit and drive in to Detroit 3 to 4 days a week

Police are very aggressive, crooks are mean and cold hearted. Surprisingly there is only a hand full of murders each year--compare to 400 plus in Detroit

That was my home town, left when i was 8. Livonia is the next city west, its better to great--again the farther west you go.

I still go in to Redford, there is a great meat market on Joy rd, been there "forever", think its called joyview market ? There was a pep boys but it was shut down years ago--believe all their workers and "customers" stole too much stuff

There is reds spring shop for leaf spring repairs--lots of body shops--got my first job at one of them.

The 7/11 on the main rd--telegraph--gets held up like every few months, lol but those are open 24/7...some young escort got in an argument with some dude around her age--early 20's. Was at some cheap motel, she got shot dead, the dude claims she grab the gun and it just went off, he is going to trail soon

Lots of stuff happens around there and it is safer then Detroit believe it or not. You can pump gas at night and not have problems--most often--unlike Detroit

The police have been known to bully folks around--like some dude was getting rob and he was legally carrying a gun and he fired a shot in the air and the crooks ran off--the police arrested HIM and it took much up cry for the charges to be dismissed..they wanted him to plea to a lesser charge and he flatly refused

You always see the cops park sneaky waiting to jump on the first minor traffic infraction..Livonia cops are the same way.

Its a step up from Detroit..bet you can get a great deal on a home right now and those older homes are built well, not no cheap wooden shack but nice brick homes from the 1960's

edit....if that's too much detail--sorry but its all fairly new, in the past year or so. I say its a great buy and a moderate risk living there. Not a dull town or a rip off to live there.

i live in livonia, the next city over. things are bad all over se michigan, but its not as bad here as some places. redford does have one of the few remaining hobby shops, but theyre going through hard times too.

Livonia is better but its not for everybody. I say if you more a city person I would rather live in Redford vs Livonia....plus your closer to the casinos and nightclubs in Detroit. Dearborn is alright--thanks in part to Ford motor company, they have their headquarters there and Greenville Village, brings in good paying jobs and tax revenue to the city.

I tell you one thing, even Redford is light years better then the worst areas of Detroit

i have lived in Redford for most of my life. so have both of my parents. if you go to north Redford, your asking for problems.. i live in south Redford in a golf course sub build in the 40's. i have never had any problems, nor have my parents. My neighborhood is quiet and clean. Redford has its down sides, but there are more ups then downs.... i don't like it when people call my town a p.o.s. or any other negative names when they have never lived there or even been there! they only know what they hear from the news or word of mouth. jm2c.....

A friend of mine is a Redford cop...want me to let him know next time you come to town?

Paul

No thanks, I try to avoid them as much as possible. I have better things to do with my time than get hassled/harrassed by the cops.

Redford has a couple great cruise nights during the Summer...Tuesdays & Wednesdays...I rarely miss them.

Paul[/QUOTE]

i go to them too! im surprised we haven't bumped into each other... my yellow dart is gone now, but i have a 70' dart im trying to get together for this season. just a cruiser..... for now:)

Haven't been there in a long time. The last time I was there, I remember wishing I was locked and loaded.
