Looking for a camshaft for my 318 been looking for Ebay just seeing what i can find on here. New or used is fine not looking to spend more than 150 bucks or so thanks
the summit cams would be under that budget..... 6900/6901 cam kitsLooking for a camshaft for my 318 been looking for Ebay just seeing what i can find on here. New or used is fine not looking to spend more than 150 bucks or so thanks
Yea the 6900 is the one i just sold. Alot of ppl here convinced me it was a bad fit for my combo. I am between the comp xe256h or xe262h or the summit 1789. (Which is the one you used in the 500 buck 318.) If I buy new I was just wanting to see what it there maybe find a good deal on a used one. I have new lifters already btw.the summit cams would be under that budget..... 6900/6901 cam kits
I'd have to be reminded.... is this the 318 that's getting cut 360 heads?Yea the 6900 is the one i just sold. Alot of ppl here convinced me it was a bad fit for my combo. No 302 heads home ported. Stock valves. Headers with 340 intake.I'd have to be reminded.... is this the 318 that's getting cut 360 heads?
what was there reason the 6900 or 6901 cam kits were wrong? Sure, there are better choices, but not sure they are bad choices for cam/lifters and staying well under the money you set aside for the camNo 302 heads home ported. Stock valves. Headers with 340 intake.
The reason was that the slow ramps and the high abdc numbers would lower my already low compression. And take my dcr into the very low range. It has a @50 duration of 204 with an advertised duration of 276. My scr is gonna be 8.9:1 if I use a .028 mr gasket head gasketswhat was there reason the 6900 or 6901 cam kits were wrong? Why is that funny? Did I make a mistake somewhere?ok... lol
I appreciate this info but I dont really really understand what those events mean? I understand the basics from what iv learned from you guys but you lost me just know!Just so you know,
The XE256 is rated at 256/262/110 at .006 tappet lift.
Here are the events of the XE256, in at 106*
Intake; opens @22 closes @54; Exhaust; opens @65 closes @17
The durations are;
intake 256, compression 126,power 115,exhaust 262, overlap of 39*
At .050 the durations are 212/218/-5*overlap
Next
The factory 360-2bbl cam IIRC, is rated 252/260/111 at .008 tappet lift. I know of no way to convert this to .006 like the Comp. Maybe Wyrmrider has the specs. But I can tell you that I believe the Mopar cam will be bigger advertised at .006 than the Comp, also, at .006
Warning; I'm making stuff up here;
But lets gross it up by just 2* at each end. Then the 252 becomes 256/264/111 ~.006 tappet lift. If that is true, then in at 109* the events are;
Intake;opens@20 closes @56;Exhaust; opens @66 closes @18.
The durations are ;
Intake 256, compression 124, power 114, exhaust 265, overlap is 38*
At .050 the durations are unknown to me, but possibly a tad less than the Comp.
Now compare them.
Comp; intake 256, comp 126, power 115, exhaust 262, overlap of 39*
Mopar;Intake 256, comp 124, power 114, exhaust 265, overlap is 38*
The Comp wins at lift tho .447/.455 compared to about .410/.410
If you already have a good 360 2bbl cam........ IDK........... I wouldn't spend my money on the Comp XE256.
I have run that 360-2bbl cam in a 318, but without a compression boost, the bottom did get a lil softer. The 2800TC fixed that. That 2800 fixes a lottachit. I think you could get away with less TC, maybe a 2200 with 3.55s.I just went with the 2800 cuz I worked at a trans shop at the time,they had one on the shelf,and they cut me a huge deal on one, lol; so I took it home on Friday night, and drove to work on Monday morning with the biggest grin you ever saw. In traffic it was amazing. And it was 45 minutes each way to work, so I had a lota,lotta fun.
Wymrider has posted several times about his findings on Comp cams, as well as some other cams.
kind of...… I'm not sure I agree with all the assessments folks give...Why is that funny? Did I make a mistake somewhere?
Its still inside the engine under the workbench, I will pull it out withe the lifters in orderAny numbers on that one Jim. I used to sell TRW at the speed shop. Curious if it was a "TP" cam number.
Here you go, DF75. $137 from Jegs: Lunati Voodoo 10200701Looking for a camshaft for my 318 been looking for Ebay just seeing what i can find on here. New or used is fine not looking to spend more than 150 bucks or so thanks
Stop grinding, you're running out of beef !I think I've alluded to this Carriage before the horse stuff but is this cam anywhere in the ballpark of being ready to be purchased? As I recall your motor isn't anywhere near that far along yet?
I'll give you my standard cam answer and that's to call Ken at Oregon cam grinding the owner. My cam is on its third grind. I've went bigger and smaller. The last time, Cam to my exact specifications meaning lift, lobe separation and duration of both intake and exhaust to my exact specifications. That means any copy of any one of those Brands out there or whatever I want a combination of. 100% custom one off. View attachment 1715244933
