That is soooo nice.
That is beautiful!
Looks good, but I'd hate to be the one trying to keep it looking that way on a running driving car.
Whooooooa! Now, use rusty bolts to attach!!!
Can't imagine the amount of work it took to polish that thing!
I love it, but the thought of making the throttle linkage work gives me a headache...
pretty! But the right single plane /4 barrel would probly out perform it.
Sweeeeet Eye candy has zero calories.
did you notice the washers underneath the bolts that hold the top plate on?
That's a lot of work !
Funny, that's the same thing my wife says about me.
It does look nice but I'm not a fan of jewelry. An original "as cast" cross ram intake would be my first choice.
Nice work. I bet that took a lot of time............ What are your plans for it?
No no no...its not mine! I was looking for my old pic and googled STR-12 and this came up. Yeah, that is amazing. I cant even polish a cast timing cover!
Yea same here!!! Such a long Process .
Too funny, it appears the bolts & washers (4) are just holding the top on for the photo to show off the polishing, but hey ya gotta make fun of something.
Wow! Man I'd give my eye teeth to have that
Nice, but where's the pop-off valves? Shame for all that work to end up looking like all the fault lines in Cali with one good backfire!!!!
Exactly, I had one of these back in the 80's and a guy found out I had it and came over every week with more money till I gave in and sold it to him, the next day he was pounding on me door demanding his money back. It backfired and blew the lid in 4 pieces and burnt the hair off his face, all I could do was grin because I wanted to kick his ass for breaking my manifold.
WOW - just WOW
My first top (bought base only for $100!) was a dual 390 setup off a 1/4 plate. It lasted about 3 minutes before a pop buckled the edge and vented it. 2nd was a 3/8 plate with a single Demon 650 that lasted forever, too bad the carb was shit. Ran great if you could keep the needle seat clear. If I were to do it again, I would tap 2 1" core plugs in the China walls that would blow before the top would buckle.
Tracy ,you could make it streetable in moments, with that solid Racer Brown grind ... ,gas mileage...menh.....
Show piece, but beautiful for sure. I assume a guy could put a pop off plate in back to protect it. Or for grins just spring load the carb studs so the carbs could lift
