Took the pups to get spayed yesterday...Mita did her customary involuntary personal protein spill in the back of the Explorer on the way there. Had them chipped as well, total for each was $230 counting some bloodwork. Picked them up at 3:30, they were out of it. Got them home, put them on the ground and they both took off to take care of business. Azul came & went to bed. Mita refused to lay down. Kind of upsetting to watch your 5 month old puppy pass out and fall over. Ernie threw every dog blanket we had in her crate and convinced her to go inside. She fell a few more times before giving in. They both had bandages on there legs. At 2 in the morning or so they decided to tag team the one on Azuls leg...and then of course eat it by the time I got out of bed to pick it up. They just removed the one on Mitas leg. Neighbor dropped off the paper this morning...they took off in pursuit....they really love Leroy.......so much for not running for 2 weeks.....now they are having a tug of war with the remnants of a toy....Sure do love these little girls....

"Personal protein spill"...love the terminology!
The 2nd Irish Setter (certainly not the smartest breed) we had years ago could not ride more than a mile or two in the back of our pickup without taking a dump. I thought I'd figured it out after the first couple of times - I took him for a short ride, drove back home and cleaned out the back of the truck, put him back in and off we went.
Yup, you guessed it! He found some more inside for a second dump!

Glad to hear all turned out so well with your pups!

Now this is funny. The girls are doing well. They spent a good amount of time playing outside today. I had an Irish Setter when I was a kid. Not the brightest bulb in the box. But she was a very protective girl. Several attempted burglaries. On one of them she went thru the living room window, only thing that stopped her from getting the bad guy was the curtains. Next time it happened she went thru the window and cornered the guy in a neighbors yard til the cops showed up....

Ooffff... Damn polar bears, registered as a canine.

The clinic across the street from me only does spaying and neutering. She says she can do 45 animals a day. She charges $60.00 per animal. Occasionally one will break lose and run to my yard.
