State Farm denying antique comprehensive coverage on my car.

I'm lost here? They paid you for your Ranger and wanted the truck and tittle? I'm not seeing the problem?
What they were wanting is for him to send the title and they come get the truck prior to paying him off.
I understand this because I'm going thru this right now with my mother.
She hit a deer, messed up the hood. 05 Caravan, they said was totaled. Told Mom that they were going to send a tow truck out to get the car. Keep in mind they have yet to actually look at the car! I went out looked at the damage, told mom I'd be back in a couple hours.
Found a used hood that was the same color for $100. Took back, 4 bolts later you can't tell there was a deer impact. That's all that happened, the deer got onto the hood and caved it in. No other damage.
But State Farm is ready to put the screws to Mom over the situation.
I told mom if she let them take the car and she sends the title, they will get amnesia about the situation.
Also going thru a situation with Progressive too.
A nurse hit my wife in her Magnum. Nothing major, but the front bumper cover and the left headlamp has been gouged. They wrote a used headlamp and only 2.5 hours for paint and materials for the bumper cover. No flex agent, and only paint on the spot gouged.
I guess they haven't heard of blending paint. I also told the adjuster that if the used headlamp was oxidized, then its a no go. It also came from their supplier. What came was yellow and I'm not using it. When I called back to complain about it, I was told that legally I was owed a used headlamp and that's what I got. Actually I'm owed "like, kind, and quality" per Ohio law. In this case a clear, non-oxidized serviceable headlamp. Not something that will fit in the hole.
When I got done, I called the nurse that hit me, I told her the situation and that I may have to file a law suit. I guess that scared the crap out of her cause she called her agent who made calls and now I can paint the whole bumper so it matches and I can use a new headlamp.
When I was called by Progressive I was asked why didn't I address the issues with them and why did I call the nurse. I simply said that I did try to address the problems with them and Progressive didn't hit me, their insured did.

Man I guess Florida agents and Insurance companies must be better than in other states? Auto , home, or theft, I've had to claim in the past without an issue! Even in 2004 when we encountered a tough no name storm that did some damage to the house. The wife and I discussed weather to put in a claim or not. We did and were shocked! Before the adjuster left, he wrote a claim up for 21,000.00, which after they pro rated the age of the roof's , we got a check for 16,000.00. Maybe I'm just lucky?

My brother is an insurance adjuster and has told me that his job is slowly being phased out because of cell phone apps... The future is to just send in pictures of the damage and they will "take care of it"...

It's a shame because my brother is a good adjuster... He's worked in body shops for 12 years and knows what to look for and tries to get the car fixed properly... He tries to be fair...

I agree 100% with Del. State Farce is the sorriest scumbag insurance company on the face of the earth! They wanted to total my wife's Saturn Vue when she got rearended a few years ago, and tried the total, tow and mail the title trick with us. We fought them, and made them fix the car, plus we got $1500 diminished value paid to us. I use Grundy for my old cars, and have never had to file a claim. They are very easy to deal with when adding or deleting a vehicle. Our regular vehicles and homeowners is thru NC Farm Bureau.

strange how rates differ. got 10k on my 72 dart with grundy. 190 a year. perfect credit. must be a state to state thing.
Your right, I know age , driving history and credit score could effect premiums, but I think where you live does too.

i believe your right. i'm 64 and haven't had as much as a parking ticket in 40 years, yet there are others with lower premiums. have a friend in the next county that has 3 cars with grundy. all with more agreed value than mine. his premium is only about double of mine. maybe i just need more cars.

I use Hagerty on my '67 Barracuda. They are easy to deal with.
hagerty was too high on my 68 form S fastback, they said it was too close to being a race car. went w/ a place in texas, $30,000 for 1/2 of hagertys price. INS.CONNECTION USA---------ASK FOR Jessica, tell her who sent u. PM me if u need more info/

Insurance quotes are all over the place.I get a good rate from Geico but my neighbor don't. I pay 822 a year the other companies day the can save 400+.You call them they are 400 higher

General Anchor Insurance only want to pay me $3,000.00 for my 1974 Plymouth Scamp.... I told them to do better than that...
$5,000.00 for the car
$82.00 DMV Tags Just paid up
$3,120.00 Loss of use rental car 78-days of them screwing around.
$3,315.00 Storage before deciding they where going to total the car and not fix it at the repair shop.
Thats $11,517.00 G.T.
This dose not even include the build of the car !!!!
And yes Boy's and Girls.... All they think they owe me is a small $3,000.00 check.... I would love to find this azzHat and stick my finger up his (*) and see what he thinks....

State Farm, the good hands people.

They sell you a bunch of promises and when it comes time to make a claim...you find out that there aren't really any good hands at that company...just one finger...and it's the middle one.

Go with Grundy. Their coverage is the same and they are a bit cheaper. WATCH OUT FOR STATE FARM. I have heard horror stories about how they SAY they are giving you a stated value policy, but if there is a problem, they pay you what they SAY it is worth. Go with Grundy.

Wow!

Haggerty had no issue insuring mine to 40k and that before resto!

Maybe the agent was a Mopar purist and didn't like the black engine bay?

don`t get me started on state f--- ! had them from the time I was 16 till 31, and never used them, when my p/u was stolen they really tried to screw me. $2700 FOR A BRAND NEW P/U! ) I DONT THINK SO ! I had just paid $7000 w/ my trade in for it !

Interesting. Manitoba has one insurance company. I have yet to insure a classic, but i know its not going to be easy. Appraisal Will be Mandatory. Last i heard the local guy that does it is a real gearhead and very fair.
Adjusters are paper pushers so i dread if i ever need to make a claim. I havent had anything for over 25 years.

I live in a small town.I think they just make it up to see how much you'll pay.I have over 3 million safe driving miles.I use that on my other cars when Geico try to jack up the rates. They say there are a lot of accidents in my area.I told them I didn't have fun making those morons so it's not my problem

Can't tell you how sick I get of comments about that.
The black is original paint.

Send me 10k and I'll make it all match!
Sorry to add to the trouble but it is true. I hear of guys doing engine swaps and just spray bombing the engine bay with flat black paint. You just spent several thousand dollars on the engine then dish out less than $20 on paint? Really? For under $200, you can buy shop grade paint and a Harbor Freight $20 gun and have it look right.

I hear ya, and my reply was a general one, not necessarily directed at you. I have seen some nice cars, then you open the hood and they bombed it all, wiper motor, wiring, you name it...
This car was TX9, and under the hood and a bit in the trunk are all that's left. I won't paint any of it until it can all get done, and right now I am too busy driving it and having fun with it.
