What they were wanting is for him to send the title and they come get the truck prior to paying him off.I'm lost here? They paid you for your Ranger and wanted the truck and tittle? I'm not seeing the problem?
I understand this because I'm going thru this right now with my mother.
She hit a deer, messed up the hood. 05 Caravan, they said was totaled. Told Mom that they were going to send a tow truck out to get the car. Keep in mind they have yet to actually look at the car! I went out looked at the damage, told mom I'd be back in a couple hours.
Found a used hood that was the same color for $100. Took back, 4 bolts later you can't tell there was a deer impact. That's all that happened, the deer got onto the hood and caved it in. No other damage.
But State Farm is ready to put the screws to Mom over the situation.
I told mom if she let them take the car and she sends the title, they will get amnesia about the situation.
Also going thru a situation with Progressive too.
A nurse hit my wife in her Magnum. Nothing major, but the front bumper cover and the left headlamp has been gouged. They wrote a used headlamp and only 2.5 hours for paint and materials for the bumper cover. No flex agent, and only paint on the spot gouged.
I guess they haven't heard of blending paint. I also told the adjuster that if the used headlamp was oxidized, then its a no go. It also came from their supplier. What came was yellow and I'm not using it. When I called back to complain about it, I was told that legally I was owed a used headlamp and that's what I got. Actually I'm owed "like, kind, and quality" per Ohio law. In this case a clear, non-oxidized serviceable headlamp. Not something that will fit in the hole.
When I got done, I called the nurse that hit me, I told her the situation and that I may have to file a law suit. I guess that scared the crap out of her cause she called her agent who made calls and now I can paint the whole bumper so it matches and I can use a new headlamp.
When I was called by Progressive I was asked why didn't I address the issues with them and why did I call the nurse. I simply said that I did try to address the problems with them and Progressive didn't hit me, their insured did.
