State Farm Insurance

-
Every dealing that I have ever had with State Farm has pissed me off. Their insureds have hit me multiple times over the years and they never want to make you whole again when you are a victim.

I've had State Farm for over 40 years and when my Dart was stolen 2 years ago, my agent had a check for the replacement value (minus my deductible) in less than two weeks.

All insurance companies make money by ripping us off. I had ‘Nation Wide Is On Your Side’. Far from the truth

I have had a few claims with state farm they have done right by me each time. With all the disasters the fires in California floods in the Carolinas and many others billions of dollars of claims have been extracted from their coffers and it seems to have complicated claims and made it harder to get compensation sometimes. I'm not justifying it in any form but that's my hypothesis.

Damn! That still hurts to look at!
My only experience with State Farm was getting a quote that was nearly double what I was quoted by three other companies. 'Nuff said.

Sucks horse nuts!

That is all.
You misspelled State ******* Farm!!!

Woman pulled out in front of me, I barely had time to lift, much left stop. Totalled my low miles 98 Ranger. They fucked around and fucked with me and chewed about 25-3G off a 6G truck. All this with NO agent. You had to call an 800 number and talk to the "team."

THEN they sent me a mailer. They wanted to come tow the truck and they wanted me to send them the title, and "trust" them. No frickiin way. They knew that they could chew a lot off the value because I'd have to spend more to sue them I should have anyway.

They are neither honest nor honorable, and not even respectful

No its not, theres a story here
You're right. I just had to calm down a little 1st.
Short version, they suck donkey peters.
Very long version:
Last October, I was coming home from, what is probably Cincinnati's bets car show. I was traveling down Martin Luther King Blvd (nothing good ever happens on MLK Blvd.) in my 75 Dart, and see a rice burner in the rear view. We're coming up on a turn lane, and he had his turn signal on, so thought he'd turn.
What the kid did was decide to drive on the curb and since there wasn't enough room, he hit the left end of my bumper, and his mirror got into the left quarter panel. Not a bunch, but enough to leave a pucker in the qtr. My rear bumper is pushed in and sprung as well.
Much to my amazement, the kid stopped. My bumper left a crease in his right side fender, both doors and his qtr panel.
Cops come, cites the kid, gives me insurance info and a report #. I also learn that the car didn't belong to him, it belongs to a friend of his. I leave upset and aggravated, but okay, the car will get fixed.
The next day, I call his insurance company, Progressive. After several phone calls back and forth, I learn his parents took him off the Progressive policy and they will not be covering this claim.
Well, ****! This just got interesting. I call my insurance and let them know that kid didn't have insurance and I'll be needing to make a claim. They get info from me and tell me they'll take care of everything.
They call me back next day and tell me that the person who owned the car has insurance thru State Farm and that I need to file a claim thru them.
I call State Farm, and it turns out that they already have a claim # assigned to me and will be dealing with this. They will have an adjuster come out and write an estimate.
Adjuster calls, tells me it it'll be a week or two, that he's been busy with North Carolina claims.
Couple of weeks later, I get a subpoena in the mail ordering me to court over the accident.
Get to court to find out that the kid is pleading not guilty and is placing blame on me.
State Farm shuts down on me.
In addition, I'm being told that the parents of the kid who owned the car are claiming that the kid wasn't supposed to be driving the car and are fighting the fact that State Farm is involved at all.
Fast forward to 27 Feb, we go to court, after a few minutes with the prosecutor and his attorney, they decide that the kid is going to plead guilty after all. The kids attorney wants the state to not place points on his license. I pipe up, and mention that the kid gave the cops fictitious insurance to begin with, and that the only way we even knew State Farm was out there, was because of my insurance company.
In the end, the kid plead guilty and the court declared State Farm will be taking responsibility for the claim.
Okay, now, maybe we can get the car fixed.
Call State Farm, had to go thru some B/S with them as far as sending the court order and some other info, but got that done.
Last week, they decided that, yes, they will be taking responsibility of the claim.
Wednesday they call, I tell them that they need to send an estimator out to write an estimate. They said they'll send a message and someone will call me back.
Adjuster calls, and tells me that they aren't coming to my house, that I need to drive the car to one of their facilities. I told them that I want a certain body shop to fix the car. Of course there was some push back, but in Ohio, you choose the body shop, not the insurance company. When I told him I knew the law, he tells me that I still need to bring it to their place to write an estimate.
I tell him no, they already said they would come to my house, the car is in a garage, they can do what they need from there.
He tells me he'll see what he can do, after giving me some B/S about how they can write an estimate by submitting photo's. Nope, I'm not even going on State Farms web site. Not doing that B/S.
I get a call this morning at 7:45 am from another adjuster. Dude woke me up, I'm foggy not going to discuss this right now.
I call back at 11:15, after I've woke up, dressed and got my mind straight.
I get told that if I want State Farm to act, I need to drive the car to their facility. I tell them I can't drive the car anywhere, I had the carburetor off being rebuilt. (That's a grey area, I did take the carb off and had it rebuilt, just I did that last August) They tell me that I need to have the car towed to their facility. When I told them that was fine, they could pay for the tow. That's when the adjuster decided that he wasn't going to be able to bully me anymore.
Said they would see about getting someone out here to write an estimate. I told them to bring the check book.
So, I'm back in a holding pattern again. Wait to see what they do. I dealt with these asshole when I worked in the dealerships, but they have seem to gotten way more obtuse than I remember.
They're treating me like I did something wrong, and to be perfectly honest, I'm just about ready to haul the kid and the owners of the car into court.
BTW, I did learn in this phone call, that the car that hit me has already been fixed.

Anyway, that's a whole lot words to ask, anyone know what the Chilton flat rate for R&R a rear bumper and absorbers for a 1975 Dodge Dart SE is?

So much BS over so little damage. They should just fix the car already. Maybe tell them your neck is startin to hurt and you're going to the doctor.

Sorry you’re having trouble but it sounds like State Farm is doing a good job protecting THEIR and their clients interests. You could have turned it in on YOUR insurance and let your company collect from State Farm.

Sounds like you're getting the same jerk around song and dance we got when a car load of Mexican teens rear ended my wife when her 2006 Saturn Vue was 2 years old. She got out to see if they were ok, and saw them seat hopping, switching drivers. When the cops got there, she told the officer she saw them switch drivers. The young officer had a Come to Jesus meeting with the kids and they finally admitted switching. We were lucky that they had insurance, even if it WAS State Farm. Got the same song and dance, wanted to total her car that you had to look hard to find the damage. It was $33 over the limit to repair! Me and their adjuster came to terms on that pretty quick, but it was still a pain in the butt dealing with them.

I do roofing in northern Minnesota and have dealt with quite a few insurance companies. In my opinion State Farm is the worst to deal with

12 of the 13 major insurance companies are owned by relatives of Congress.

This sounds like women on tik tok.Looking for validation from other women..
Insurance is a scam flat out and we all know it...

I never had any problems with State Farm quickly covering claims here in NC.
They did piss me off back in 1986 when I was looking at a new 86 Trans Am. I previously owned a 83 Trans Am with my full coverage costing me about $280 every 6 months. When I went to State Farm again on the 86, I was quoted just under $300. When I got my first bill, it was nearly $600. That would have definitely been a deal breaker for me. I decided to check other companies. At that time most wouldn't even cover a Trans Am. One company quoted about the same and another quoted over $1100 for 6 months coverage. I have stayed with State Farm since the late 70s.
In the early 90s, my ex wife flipped our 89 Turbo RX7 and totalled it. State Farm gave us a full value check 2 days later.
And probably within the last 8 to 10 years, a roofing company was working in our neighborhood and told me my roof had hail damage. I didn't even know it. They lined up an inspection with State Farm and put a new, 30 year roof on my house. I did have to pay about ⅓ of the cost but that was still good for me.

I've got a similar story for you: I took my 1999 F350 7.3 6 speed diesel in for an oil change 15 quarts plus a new filter, I supplied the oil and filter. I've used this shop multiple times because I don't have any room to store used oil from 3 vehicles. I'm sitting in the waiting area and I hear a crash and a bunch of people hollering and screaming. I walk outside and down to the bay where my truck is, only to see the front end lower than the rear. I had to look 3-4 times to make sure of what I'm seeing. Even though there are signs "No customers in shop area", i walk up to my truck. The front wheels are on the concrete floor and the rears are on the lift. It seems the guy doing the oil change told the "new hire" shop rat to fire the truck up once he had put the oil in. The "kid" (18-19YO) had sense enough to push the clutch pedal in to crank it up, but not sense enough to check to see if the emergency brake was set. Nor did he have sense enough to put the shifter in neutral. Needless to say there was significant damage to the hood hinges and struts from hitting the cross bar, not to mention peeling the diamond plate running boards away for the mounting points.

Fast forward, I get the insurance information (Farmers Insurance) and get in touch with a claim's agent and submit picture of the damage. Now we get to the BS portion of the story, the claim's agent is in upstate New Youk, I live in Texas. He sends me a list of their "in network" shops to get to for estimates. I go to 4 of the 5 shops and basically I'm told they really don't want the job because the truck is 25 years old. I go back and forth with the claim's clown until he tells me to go find a shop that will do the repairs. I find a Mom and Pop shop 20 miles from me and they submit an estimate. There is only "one" place we found that still makes diamond plate running boards for my truck.

The shop owner calls me to tell me what a "D**K" the Farmers agent is and I cannot disagree with him. Between the shop owner and myself, we argue for weeks about their estimate and the local estimate. I finally tell the FI clown that my truck is going to the local shop and the repairs will be done there and FI "will" be paying for them, as well as a rental vehicle while my truck is in the shop.

Fast forward 3 weeks, my truck is ready, it looks great, back to it's old self. I turn in the rental and the insurance that I have to carry on it doesn't add up. Come to find out, Enterprise overcharged me $400.00. I get into a shouting match on the phone with the FI D**K about the overcharge, he finally see the error and refunds my money. Meanwhile I've become friends with the shop owner and he tells me that he is taking Farmers and the agent to court here in Texas because they shortchanged him on labor and materials.

I call Farmers Corporate office and file a complaint with them on my behalf, as well as the shops behalf. I get a call from the shop and we get a conference call going to the corporate office, and they bring in the claims agent. He proceeds to tell his office what a PITA that both myself and the shop have been. The shop owner and I sit quietly on the phone while claim's boy rants on and on. Once he is through, I add my comments from the copious notes I have and then the shop owner adds his comments. The Corporate person tells the shop owner and I that he will get back to us within the hour and tells us to end our call. About 45 minutes later, I get a call with the Corporate person and the shop owner on the call. We are told that the claims agent has been terminated and that the shop owner will be paid in full.

Three days later, the shop owner calls to tell me that all of his outlay to repair my truck has been paid in full and that since I helped him out that he wanted to take me to lunch. We are really good friends now and if I ever need a shop, I will definitely use him.

Here's the thing. You should not have to be a 10-60 year customer to get good service. You should not even have to be THEIR customer. In my case it was the other party's liability, and SFF took every advantage

My brother and I fought with an insurance company for 6 months with all kinds of stalling and circle jerking by their agents. Don’t give up and don’t accept their first settlement offer. They have to make the car just the same as prior to accident, or pay up.
