how would you listen to pinging or detonation?

If you google things related to knock sensor, some guys are using OEM knock sensors hooked to an audio device to detect / listen for ping

But,if you are green, as others said ,start high until you get the tune into it

I run pump gas on a CALCULATED 11.08:1 CR with iron heads. I have .063 quench, so I can drop .020 on the gasket if I have to but I'm not a quench kook aid drinker like some. The thinner gasket would make me a CALCULATED 11.25:1 with IRO heads on PG.

I'd post my cam specs but they are not typical and most would poo poo them. Obviously, you would be poo pooing Jim at Racer Brown because he spec'd it.

I would start with the total timing on the low side of what you'd normally run and check plugs as you raise the timing 2 degrees at a time...but more so keep an eye out for these tiny little spots on the insulator.
