Stock internal 318 redline??

Fun on the street from stoplight to stoplight. Is it quick or does it smoke tires?
I have CE 80/20 shocks on the front, stiff leaf springs and 295/50/15 tires in the rear. The converter flashes to about 2200, it pops the front end up, plants the rear tires and off we go. It's fun for what it is, but the car was set up for the 360 that's going in one of these days. It's such a good running little motor, I have to fight the urge to slap some better heads and a little bigger cam in it.

The 318 currently in my Duster was built before me but has a very mild cam, nothing special late model 318 heads, Streetmaster intake, 600 Edelbrock, Hi-Rev ignition kit, and headers. It's all out of steam around 5200, but it gets there quick with the 4.11 gears!
I had a similar setup early 70s 318 with mild cam Holley and headers/duals. 3:91s yes it sort of hit the ceiling quick and was just revving etc.

No need to run them up any more. It just costs more money to make them spin fast and live.

you dont shift were it makes the most
you shift 500 to 700 after peak
then try 100 more or 100 less to find the best shift point
its not 5k in 318 with a 340 cam specs atleast 5500
anybody who puts a cam in 318 without upgrading the springs is a fool
I'm a fool...
