I only got one key with the Neon. According to info online, it is a basic transponder key (no 'fob'). I think it's like $100 plus at dealer. What's the cheapest way/place to get one made? I see local locksmiths advertise they 'will save you a lot over dealer'. Will be calling... Looks like Batteries Plus wants $60 and I think they can do it with only one key. Just wondering if any known cheep sources.

You have to have two key fobs to get a locksmith or even a hardware store to make you one. Been down that road myself. Ended up being forced to pay the 275 dollars for one for my Caliper I had when we lost the second key.

They will cut you a key that will get you in the door though for like 20 bucks. But it wont start the car

They suck. Got lucky with the cobalt. Lost a key was down to one, then the ignition switch recall happened and they gave me two more! Firechicken needs a spare. I will just wait till she locks it in or loses it then call AAA!

Programming or reprogramming of your chip keys can be done in just minutes from your vehicle using just the key itself. Insert your chip key into the ignition of your vehicle and turn the key to the "On" position. Leave the key in the "On" position for 10 minutes and 30 seconds, then turn it back to the "Off" position.

You didnt read it through. No mention of self programming a single key.
Two keys, yes.
A scan tool or a dedicated key programmer is required. Most locksmiths can do it.
The nearest one to me that provides this service is 50 miles away.

Anyone with a decent scan tool should be able to program a key.

Some gm products will let you add a key, key has to be left in the on position for an extended period. Like 30 minutes.

How does a scan tool do it? Just curious.

Access is through body control module, some is instrument cluster and keyless entry module.
Chrysler is the skim module.
Ford is pats module
Gm is passlock.
Back in the remote starter days i had to jump through the hoops to get the cars to start, as the security bypass was similar to adding a 3rd key.

Fuel filter or old fuel pump has gone bad. No gas to the carb.
Need to order those and get them on. This project has lasted too long!!

Yep tried got nothing. Turned over nothing smoked passed the first test.

No it didn't start.

No start after priming??? Should get at least 30 seconds from fuel in the bowls.
a. Check the fuel level in the carb first.
b. Check fuel in the tank
c. Remove the outlet hose from the fuel pump and crank the motor and see how much goes in bucket.
if fuel then the problem is after the pump
- c1 if nothing, then check in the fuel pump inlet. If nothing can be pulled out there, then its not the pump. (ps.Have enough hose to stop the siphon effect)
