Well finally put the drill bit sharpener on the Sharp All, should have done it years ago and saved a ton on drill bits.

On the monte I could not find r14 so I just filled it with 134a and it was fine

R14? That must be rare. :D

Didn't know you could mix. Was it completely empty? I was going to at least change the dryer. Pretty sure its empty now, so no issue opening it and a buddy has a vac.

The only difference really is the compressor pressures, 14 is super hard to get, I have a hvac license for ac and Cannot even buy it, r22 you can get with a esco license and 134a any one can get, I just put the fill nipple on for 134 and it was working good, not super cold but around 43 or so.

I used to be able to hand sharpen but the eye's are starting to suck. 3/16 is about what this does and up to 3/4. I usually just but a 10 pack of 1/8 doubles at HF and throw them out after a few uses on each side.

Ok, I was being a smart azz. There is an R14, but I assummmmme you meant R12. And yes it is hard to find and expensive.

I am sure you can buy Freon right? Sometimes I see it a garage sales and buy it up, found a 30lb bottle half full for 20 a few years ago and then sold it for 200! We used to use the hell out of r22 on the ec-130's to keep the back end cold for the electronics, it took 45 lbs to fill it!

hi California Tim
And lovi'n it! Pulled Cam yesterday, mic'ed lobes. all were the same, no noticeable difference. HMM.. Checked valves, the one was lower quite a bit. WTH! Well heads going off, going back to the shop that just did head work. Frustrating, 2 steps forward one back. :coffee2:By quite a bit I mean my thickest gauge still had tons of room, probably had a 32nd of an inch. I might have caught a valve seat before it fell in to engine, looks to have moved. What else could it be?

I am not licenced to buy it, if thats what you mean. I have not done much with freon since before it became a public enemy. Our systems at cold storage were ammonia. One site had some rooftop units that ran 507 and they took care of the ice vending boxes, but I didnt work there since '93, Our only freon was in office units and we just called someone in on the few occasions they needed charged.

I have the licence if needed let me know, I would just try the 134 though way cheaper.
