Stop in for a cup of coffee

Gosh I'd think you could get away with 87 octane. If it doesn't ping, its good to go. :)
Try to get summer fuel in it as soon as you can.
E0 if there's a station near you.
I think where I usually go is E10. Will look for zero...What will that actually do for it? If octane level is there, what is the real issue with the 'corn fuel'? I know it will run 'OK' on 87, but would higher grade do anything for it? I don't put a lot of miles on it, so figure its worth a little extra cost per fill if it will actually run better. Does high octane cause any problems if not needed? I recall you mentioned Winter/Summer fuel before. What's the difference?

What's the best gas to run in stock slanty? (75 peanut head) Is there any benefit to using higher octane?

No, our engines professor said that you should only run as much octane as you need to keep it from pinging.... If you throw high octane in a car that can run on low octane, you are just wasting money..

If it makes ya feel any better... I got paid yesterday. Mae just tells me she scheduled several payments including mortgage. Another large payment came out that was not supposed to. I have no beer. Hardly any coffee. Half tank of gas. I am supposed to start a floor refinish job tomorrow and have to scrape together money for sandpaper... Fk me! :BangHead:

Ok, I feel better now...

Summer fuel contains less ethanol than winter fuel. The ethanol picks up moisture so a car that sits a lot will slowly gain some water in the fuel over time. Straight e0 is best if you can get it.

Higher octane will never hurt anything, just reduce fuel economy a little if you use higher than needed. I would run 91 in your car because it doesn’t get driven much. It will keep the combustion chamber cleaner when running and will keep the octane level higher over time as it sits in the tank. Gas octane slowly drops over time so starting higher gives you more time above your engines minimum octane requirement

FML... get an early day off and boom, blow out the clutch on the truck...:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

Ethanol will not give you as much MPG as straight gas will...

Regular gas gives you a little more "punch per volume" than ethanol does....

I think I convinced my wife to finally buy the larger flat screen TV for the family room. It’s just silly to replace an old 29” tube TV with a 32” flat screen. 55-65” makes more sense and everyone will be happier with it.

We used 25" for many years and then got a 51 projection type. You don't realize how much difference that screen size makes till you have one. When that died, I brought up a 32 flat (1080 I think)that barely got used downstairs. Just wasn't the same. About a year ago I got a 4K 55". Biggest that would fit in space designed for the 51- The lack of 'frame' the projector had allowed for slightly larger screen. I think this is about perfect. Not too much for normal seating approx. 8-10ft away, but still plenty big from back of room.

Wow. 25 minute phone call.
Think they can get an un-registered car fixed with no plan to safety it.
So i summed it up, not insured,no pending safety and need it fixed on a low budget.
I dont even want it in my yard, i feel the guy on the other end of the phone line is a dirtbag.
Dont need that kind of work.

Winter fuels ignite easier in cold weather. EPA and the various states put the reins on how far they can go, and how late into the Spring it may be distributed and sold.
The key requirement is Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP). High RVP can cause poor performance in hot weather especially with open and semi-open fuel systems like ours.
"Winter-grade gasoline usually contains more butane, which has an octane rating slightly below premium gasoline (91-93 octane). While butane is an economic component of gasoline, the high volatility of butane limits the amount of butane that can be used in summer-grade gasoline." Date of switch to summer-grade gasoline approaches - Today in Energy - U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)

Ethanol is one of the causes for some rubber and plastics deteriorating faster. I *think* it also shortens the shelf life. OTH it helps the octane and can improve emmissions and efficiency in some engines. Eth is also one of the big contributors to distortion of the distillation curve. This makes it harder for nice flame growth in a lot of our engines.

Here's a couple distillation curves using some data from some studies about reformulated gasoline.
upload_2019-5-4_16-47-49.png

The curve shows the 8% eth fuel tested lost 20% by volume when heated to 135*F.
Compared to the Chevron 93 they tested which only lost around 5% volume when heated to 135*F.

In this next graph fuel K is a fomulation with MTBE and and A is one without. L and B represent the same fuels with ethanal added.
A couple takeaways.
The eth is not the only cause of the easy vaporization and the high finish temperatures.
Low amounts of eth (5% ) don't distort the curve nearly as much as higher amounts.

This is a pretty good booklet on motor fuels.

They also have similar ones on aviation fuels.

edit. That link seems like its out of service.
Here's another URL for the same pdf.

So, thilly me. Ordered parts for a 2500 van instead of a 3500.
Pads rotors and wheel bearings i assume are all wrong.
No parts until 2:00 pm monday:BangHead:
I should have knowed better.
So i made a corporate decision, slam it back together. At least i can work on something else.

First and foremost I hope the wedding went great. No one drank to much, no fights, and nobody kissed the wrong girl. So I just got in from the shop, the guy that drop shipped all the parts to my shop to hide the work from his wife showed up at 0600 this morning. Ram 3500, EGR delete etc etc, tuner, tranny mods, oil box retro. Remove all exhaust replace with 5 inch. Eleven hours later and we are done. I had to run him to town twice for parts as well. He was supposed to do all the work and just use all my tools etc. Nope guess who the old fat guy was under the truck all day wrestling the exhaust. He did pay me a 12 pack! I believe I am done helping him out on his rigs.

Always good to help out a friend. Not so much when they're not real friends..

We got the TV, no last minute change of heart from my wife. I got this one. Normally $459, on sale for $299.

Sharp - 55" Class - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR Roku TV

I also got this cabinet to put it on.
