Yep we are negotiating actual date hopefully next week. It will be no later than 1/1/23 I can tell ya that for sure!
Crap need something closer than that. I'd say something before the snow flies next winter.
If not, your bride will be living in Arkansas without you. :poke::lol:

I use that line almost every time I teach a defensive handgun class. There is always a youngster that wants to play the “what if” game. Yes it is possible that the church, mall, grocery store is going to be over run by rappelling Chinese special forces dropping down from helicopters but while possible, it is not probable. Let’s focus our training today on events that have the highest probability. They wear me out.

"What if"....(collective groan from the class)

I should bring you all some bottles of this Xau Xanh.( Green Oil ). There aint a woman in Viet Nam that doesn't have one in her purse. Lol. It's a fix everything ointment to them. They put it on their temples if headache. On the ears. On the throat if sore. Got a tummy ache? Yup on the navel. She even trys to rub it under my nose before sleep. Never heard of it till I came to VN...

When I was in basic those were the guys who got the knock the "what if **** off" talk.
Especially when our Drills had us pushing Ft Jackson for dumb *** questions.

Yep, it is just a very delicate dance as I am retiring early but have a sizable stock option position that was used as bait to lure me out of retirement last time. A misstep on my part could have some nasty financial loss. I agreed to two years up here seven years ago! In all fairness I have had a lot of fun as I was not mentally prepared to retire last time. I grossly underestimated the mental stimulation I required to maintain my sanity. But now I am just flat wore out and simply do not want to manage anything else or anybody. I want to shoot guns drink beer and weld what I want when I want.

And my bride has decided the same thing. She's done, where's the door I'm ready to GO. Just a few more weeks for her.

Good morning! Another sunny day to enjoy, 44 for the high so I guess its going to be a play with the wire welder to get it set and get the fender ready for sealer on the inside and outside.
Everyone enjoy your day.

I did my Reserve Officer Infantry Basic at Ft Benning beginning in January...miserable.
A 45-day course with 36 days in the field. Lucky us it rained and hovered in the 30's for most of it.
Water temp was 42 when we jumped in Victory Pond.
For those here who don't know it was a water survival exercise.
You were in and out of the water three times over a two-hour period so you can imagine soaking wet just how cold you got.
18 guys ended up in the hospital with that one, CO almost got relieved.

Hey, does anyone here live close to Wister, OK? It's just south of Fort Smith, right on the border with Arkansas.

Make sure that you quit after the free holiday paid days off, so you don't loose out on the free vacation pay....

When I was at the engine plant, we had a guy in our group that didn't get along well with the rest of us... Eventually he found another job and put in his notice that he was going to quit before the Christmas break... Someone pointed out to him that if he quit in the first week of January after Christmas break, he would get the free two weeks pay and the profit sharing check for the year...

He talked to HR about it and they said that if our manager would sign off that he was 'critical' they could change his quit date... So when he talked to our Manager and explained the situation, the manager said, "I guess you're not that critical"...

Wally wasn't happy... :mob:

The rest of us died laughing....

And some of those guys could talk a long time.
I remember one nice sunny afternoon as we stood there in formation and the Drill asked if there any questions. One dumbass asked him if we could go to the mini PX in a trailer across the parking lot. He turned and looked at it and turned back to the formation and asked if that's what we wanted to do. Of course, a few chimed in and said yes.

We then took off on a three-mile run and stopped in front of that same PX which was just across the parking lot. He told us HE was in charge and when HE thought we deserved to go to the fuc*ing PX HE'D let us go. Now he says "Anyone that wants to go in can, but if one person does go in, we'll take the same route back that we came OR we can about face and march across the parking lot to the barracks. No one went in. Lesson learned!!
