He's interested in going into computer tech. He already built a super computer from scratch with the help of his brother's geek friends. It's a 6 core processor, has a solid state something or other that boots up in 6 seconds, two double video cards, and 64 ram. He likes to on-line game...
I had him talk to the head of the mechanical design dept at our local comm college. They have a new degree in Mecha-tronics, it combines mechanical and electrical engineering. Then Purdue has the continuation of the program to get a bachelor's degree. It is cool because they merge electrical and mechanical in one degree. You can design your "widget" and also program any electrical parts on it for a fully integrated product. I'm not sure if he'll go with it, but he has interest in computers and mechanical stuff. I'm teaching him how to rebuild a 360, and he's started tinkering with old vintage mini-bikes. So he does have an interest in mechanical also...
But he has to choose his own path, I just want him to be aware of his options...
