Stop in for a cup of coffee

BTW, do NOT buy the Mancini rear spring shackles "MRE 351 A BODY SHACKLE SET". They are Chinese junk! They have a fine thread bolt and nut that stripped out as soon as we started tightening them down with hand wrenches. Looks like the nuts are the wrong size and just slightly larger than the bolt so that they spin on by hand ok but strip when you try to tighten...
Good thing I still had the original shackles and just used the new bushings on them instead.
We know this kind of crap is out there, but if a company like Mancini is not going to 'weed it out' Your better off to roll the dice on the cheapest thing ebay has to offer.:wtf::BangHead:

Oh that's seriously messed up.
No kidding. I was seriously unhappy about it since I had swapped the rear shackles out last spring for the 2" longer ones just to deal with the sagging from the worn-out original springs. Then I remembered that I had actually saved the original ones and found them after a short search through some boxes in the basement. Whew!

Yep, and what's worse is that when I ordered the Springs these shackles came up as "recommended" by Mancini for the install. That's the last time I will listen to their recommendation for what I need!

I actually did replace my shackles with an ebay find. Don't recall if they were the cheapest or not... the metal was fine, but the bushings were crap. Luckily I had already got a set from Energy Suspension.

Here's another issue along the way...

The KYB shocks (KG5413) are the correct length for the SS springs buuuut Mancini failed to note that the top bushing is the incorrect type. It is a flush bushing with an internal metal sleeve and will NOT fit on the upper shock mount. We needed to press them out and replace them with the ones from the coil-over shocks I had on the car already. The I.D. of the upper shock ring is the same, so the bushings were a direct fit.

couldn't you cut/grind the sleeve shorter?

couldn't you cut/grind the sleeve shorter?
The I.D. of the sleeve was smaller than the upper shock mount stud so it wouldn't go on at all. The other part was that it needs the extra rubber on the outside of the shock bushing ring to keep it snug on the mounting stud since the stud isn't threaded for the entire length and relies on the bushing to be the correct width to be held snug when the nut is tightened.

You want everything correct? where is the fun in that!

Even with the difficulties along the way, I feel like I finally got the suspension back to what it was designed to be...and even better!

While there is some truth to that...
With how many models, over how many years using mostly the same suspension. You would think parts might fit.:BangHead:
One would hope...but 'tis also the reason we have to be enthusiasts that really understand the vehicles in order to keep them alive! Even as simple as these cars are, we still have to be experts if we have any hope of restoring/maintaining them. These cars aren't ones where you just take the parts you get, slap them on and call it a day. Those are called "Chevy".

Yep...but I have to thank you for the recommendation on these springs and the pics of them on Eddie's car. The pics told me what I needed to know and in the end, these are exactly what I wanted!

I'm glad we helped you figure it out. I love the SS springs...

Feeling them coil up when you get on it... :steering:

Ryen and Dylan are brothers and both own old Mopars now. Their dad has 3 himself. They are their own carcshow!
