On humid days, it will ice up and melt off thereby leaving a puddle.

Yep and the older systems seem to have the problem even when you're not running the AC. Spring and fall are the two worst for ours. Ours gets so bad that it actually spits water at you out of the vents

If the defrost is on,even with heat running, a/c compressor cycles to de-humidify the air being blown on windscreen.

That's good. I think I have a spare set of those white nylon sliders, but I gather you already ordered them. I bought them thinking '67 used them, and then realized not so after I got them.
