Same sort of thing with the DS tune on the SRT. Shift pressures are increased and the torque management by the TCM is removed. Shifts hard and fast.
 

The way it was edplained to me years ago was. Transmissions by design are made to slip so as to insure a smoothshift.

By making them shift harder or faster they actually last longer.
 
My son's 68 GTO. Is a 4spd. With a gearvendors.
Shifts hard and fast without the clutch.

So it'd be kind of like switching up the valve body for firmer shifts?
