Stop in for a cup of coffee

I am rite on the edge of the predicted storm again.

Yeah, I've been in the 'annoying icy coating zone' too many times this year. IT will actually be nice to get a real snow this time. Just sucks that it's coming overnight before a work day. Also Im the maintenance man, so when I get to work I have to clear the entrances there too. We do have a service to clear the lot.

Firing up my Aero-Press.

If you love coffee and espresso, get one. I may have reverberated this once, already, but in addition to that, I have a suggestion for coffee.

After going through a bag of coffee that my brother roasted, that he brought from Durango, when he came up for the holidays, I've been rather disappointed in every other store bought bag I've tried since, until this last find.

Kroger or any other store that carries Daz Bog beans in bulk, to fill or grind and fill.

After tasting some of their alleged Espresso roast and other dark and medium roasts straight from the server at the store, I found one that has that very fresh and specific finish flavor and final aroma that I've only had from two other, rather expensive roasts. One of those being the one that my brother roasted.

This stuff is called Daz Bog's Java Mocha. I don't know why the name, but its a medium roast, so it doesn't have a sooty flavor and is very rich in flavor and dark in color. It is not a flavored roast, like amaretto or cinnamon, cocoa, etc. Its just a really, really proper roast with a great finish and aroma that you don't get from crappy roasts. Attributed to lots of oils still present and not nuking the beans too dark, I'd imagine.

Anyway, if you can, for the price, I have yet to find a coffee cheaper than $15lb that matches this stuff at $10.99lb. Most bags are 11oz, not a full lb/16oz, just FYI, while you're pricing. If it were bagged like the rest of the stuff on the shelves, they would be right around $7.55 for a 11oz bag, like your 8 O Clock, Dunkin', etc.

For the quality of this stuff at half of the price I've paid for equal quality joe, its worth buying your own grinder for at home, to have it as fresh as possible.

Sounds like a good combo you've found there Dave. There's nothing like freshly roasted coffee and then grind, brew, and drink. The guy I get my coffee from blends and roasts his own at his coffee shop downtown. It's good stuff! This is a private label my neighbor came up with.

At least we are not getting what the northern new England is getting.

I was maintenance manager of 2 flat roof cold storage warehouses when we had back to back 2 foot snows a few years ago. Your pretty much helpless to do anything at that point. Even if you had the manpower to move it, what do you do with it? All you can do is clear paths to the drains so it runs off when it finally melts. Otherwise it saturates the snow, freezes and gets progressively heavier. I'm surprised we haven't seen more roof collapses in the news for the New England area. They do build truss structures to handle more, but even there this has to be going beyond designed load capacities.

On long Island when the snow was huge they used to dump it into the ocean and bays. I can see Boston doing that but the rest of the areas would be to costly. I agree with ZK on the roofs not collapsing,

On long Island ,

They make really good tea there in Long Island.... :D

Hello everyone. I just got up. Slept in this morning. Now I have to read the 50 page chapter on datums for my GD&T class... :???:

So, I'll check in with you all later, when I have no class.... :glasses7:

nothing like sleeping in and having Afternoon coffee LOL

we got slushy snow last night and yesterday but its already melting off the road and dirt areas ......really needed the moisture because the last few weeks of upper 60s is turning everything green already.

We are supposed to be back into the upper 60s/ by the end of the week. :glasses7:

but today is a great day to stay indoors and hang out and go to my friend's house later :burnout:

Nice. haha...

I drink coffee morning, day and night. Amy does, too.

I need to find a good local house that roasts, Mike. Nothing beats locally roasted beans, for freshness and that very specific flavor that can't be obtained, without it.

A friend at work has been brewing beer for the past 7 years. He's given me a six of his flavors that he's done from his taps and I think I might get a two 5gal kettle system for an ale or stout and a lager, for the bar/ sunroom/ deck/ garage out front, when its all built.

After looking into used whiskey mash barrels for aging, it dawned on me that I could age coffee in them, so now I'm considering at the very least, to roast my own stock and keep some aged for iced coffee, downstairs in the arcade and bar/ finished car garage area.

Dave If you want to check out some home brewing check out homebrewtalk.com It is like FABO for brewing.

Good morning.
Slicker 'n bat **** out there...

Actually no problem for anything with 4wd. (And a driver with a little bit of sense). Lot a slipin and slidin otherwise. Looks like it's near done snowing and we only got about half of the 5" they predicted. Nothing a little salt and sunshine won't clear right up.

dreams are so freaky.

If I could I would get a grant from a major university to do a study on dreams.

The native Americans often said that dreams are another life you live at night or whenever you sleep. Makes me wonder.

Some dreams are so awesome too and they fade away so easy.

I just had one where I could hear a song I like and the sound was more clear than any stereo I have ever heard.......and I have a really nice stereo. In the dream it was like the original artist was playing it right in front of me, that's how clear the sound was.

Now I am going to be thinking about it all day. :???:

Looks like we got around 4" here last night. I just found out my sister in law and family are coming by today from NY! A little warning would have been nice. My brother in law and I used to work in his fathers Gulf station in the 70-80's. It will be good to see him again. the rest alright. He will like the dart! And a frozen one also.

My son's Plymouth finally got painted over the weekend. It should be home this weekend for the next round of work on it. It's come a long way. I bought it fifteen years ago and signed it over to him a couple years ago when he graduated from college.

I've got to head to work- everyone have great day. Looks like sunny and 70 here today....wow, do we ever need cool, cloudy and rain.

Just looked at the weather. 73 today and 76 tomorrow. I like the nice weather but our drought is getting worse by the day. Summer will mean severe water restrictions.
