Stop in for a cup of coffee

Good morning Karl :D Whats up for this day there at home ? No monkey business I hope :D

Try to get the Valiant tank in as stated above, then get ready to go to grandma's wake this evening.

I gotta find my suit and see if I can get away with it. I've lost 60 lbs since I bought it, and plan to loose another 60, but don't want to buy a suit just for this that won't fit me when I get down to my target weight....

If anything, just buy a pair of Dockers and get a shirt and tie to go with it...

I ordered a 6 foot sub sandwich from Subway for the wake, to keep our energy level up.

My uncle is taking this pretty bad, and wants to get it all over asap. So we're having a close family only wake today and funeral tomorrow. Then try to get back to a normal life again.... O:)

I'll probably look like this in my suit, hopefully I can pull it off like he did.... Check it out just after 2 min and 3 min marks...

Here's another on with him in that over-sized suit....

Let me say one this first Karl :glasses7: So glad to hear you are looking at losing some of the lbs brother, and let Treva and I send out condolences.. I know you can handle the next couple days and help keep folks strong and even put a smile on a few with your wit and humbling/Fun smile.... Prayers go with you today . May that tube slide right in and make you wonder why it did not do that last time :D

Hi Mitch. You guys have a good time meeting for lunch... :D

Have your people meet with my people and do lunch.... LOL!!! :glasses7:

My ondest son and I have been trying to get his new gas tank in the Valiant yesterday, but are having some problems getting it up and on the filler tube.

We took the tube out and cleaned it up, and still can't get it in from the top.... :banghead:

We don't see anything hanging it up, but can't get the tube all the way in. So we are going to take them both out again today and see if they fit together outside the car first, then try to figure out the trick to getting them to fit together IN THE CAR!!!

I refuse to let this tank and filler tube beat us...

It's like a puzzle the way the tank wraps around the tire well and the angle the tube goes in. Best to hang the tank first then install the tube just keep the trunk seal loose on the tube till last so you can see it going in the tank. Also you can lube the tube/tank seal with power steering fluid.

Thanks Mike.

That tube won't beat us... I have a very strong stubborn streak - (grandpa was the most stubborn man to walk this earth, it runs in the family - that's the German side of us coming out...) :angryfir:

Thanks for the condolences, I will try to lighten things up a little with some humor... After all, you can't take life too seriously - you'll never get out of it alive.... :D

We did try that. It still hung up on us.... :dontknow:

I've done tanks on my old 67 & 68 Barracudas. They have a longer filler tube and you can fight the tank up with the tube in place.

the Valiant doesn't have as long of a tube sticking down and it's difficult to try to put the tank up and follow the tube as the spare tire well gets in the way... We tried to loosen the tube and try to get it in from the top after the tank is in place, but it keeps hanging up at the entrance of the rubber seal and not getting through.

That's why we are going to take them both out today and try to fit them together outside the car to make sure the tube or seal is not interfering too bad. Then try to see if there is a trick angle to help us get the tube in when we try to put it all back together in the car. #-o

Part of working on cars is they always don't go easy, and you have to keep trying until you get it.... :rambo:

Like the sayings go:

If it has wheels or tits, it will give you problems.... :poke:

How many times on a cold cold morning, when you really need it; a car and a woman, they won't turn over.... :prayer:

Hey, I like this Viking icon.... :viking:

That's what we are trying to do. Still fighting us.

We will keep at it until we get them in...

We'll freakin weld it if we have to..... :evil3:

For some reason the tube won't go through the seal right now. Maybe we're not hitting it at the right angle. That's what we are going to get into today....

thanks for the tips. It doesn't hurt to try something new when things aren't going right...

Mine was a pain also. Lube the tube (hey that sounds fun) with silicone or petroleum jelly. I still had an issue getting the neck flush with the body I had to hit it in with a hammer and wood.

That's what we're having trouble with... Can't get the filler tube in enough to put the screws back in on the quarter panel....

I'll have to get some wood.... Gigity, gigity....

The good thing is, I'm a righty and my son's a lefty, so we can switch for whatever "power arm" angle that we need to get-r-done....

Take advantage of our strengths...

Not to mention it's always good to have a helper and an extra set of hands and eyes on it....

First time in here 3rd large cup off joe and heading out the get the rear rear centered in the duster.

Morning fellas. It's supposed to get up to 62 today in the Queen City! I'm hoping it melts all the snow off the drive way at the shop so my slicks can get me out! Two more days!

Then it really might not fit. Might make it to long and take the bends out. Alright out the door have a good day!

Good luck Krazy!
