Stop in for a cup of coffee

Yes, she's a little pit. Pound puppy that was slated for disposal. She has turned into the best dog I've had. Extremely friendly. I think they know when the been saved. She has picked me ,follows me everywhere I go. PITA!! Lol

Yeah, I am extremely attached to my Chocolate Lab Gunner. He is with me all day , every day. And always rides along when I go out on errands. I truly dread the day that he is gone.

It goes. Gonna work on modifying the sheet metal duct work, and adapt it to my new HVAC syst. A friend of mine lent me a 12" metal bending tool. Gotta cut down the bottom box to 9" and reflange it since this equipment is taller. Nice to use the right tools.

I don't like messing with duct work. It's like 24g?. Not much more than tin foil. I tend to get a Lil heavy handed with it. Good luck!!

Give me something I can sink a grinder into lol

Gotta share...
Overheard a 'young gun' in the hardware aisle at Home Depot the other day., and had to jump in...He's got a handful of bolts he's trying to match up. As he's routing through the GRADE 2 bolts, he says something to the girl that works there and all I caught was the word 'engine'. I was in a hurry, but couldn't let it go. I don't know exactly which bolts were for what, and pretty sure he didn't either. So just on the chance that it would ever run again, I Asked if I could see what he had. sure enough, a lot of them were grade 8. Showed him how to tell from the heads and that grade 2 had pretty much no use in automotive. I don't think he had the head bolts, but I advised that they can only be torqued a few times. (He proudly told me that he has a torque wrench). Other than a couple that must have been on the exhaust, most of what he had looked very usable.

Nice gesture. What you give will come back to you.

Morning guys. Nice to read about rescued pups and helping young guns. Barely slept last night (Karl I don't see how you manage w/insomnia) for thinking about my Dad. His dementia is so bad I'm afraid something is going to happen to him. He insists on staying in his house in N. Georgia. None of us kids can move there. There's social workers, home health etc checking on them, but all it would take is one little thing and.... A great young lady is doing housework but only a matter of time before my Dad's crazy wife drives her away. Grrrr sorry going for a walk now.

I woke up three or more times since the last post....

Just ate some chicken noodle soup with garlic and tumeric and black pepper. I feel a little better for now, but will have to see how long it lasts...

Decongestants aren't working...

I'm gonna take a hot shower and see if that can help me feel better...

Sorry to hear about your dad's issues David. Hopefully it will get better.

You have to watch the people with dimentia...

When I first got out of college, I was sent to Arkansas for my first job. I found a house to rent and the neighbor was a nice little old lady, but she had Alzheimer's... At first, there was a lady who would stop by every day and help her, but she stopped after a while.

I didn't realize how bad it could be until the last day that I was there. I did a favor for Alice, and she wanted to pay me back by cooking me some eggs for breakfast, so I accepted. She went into the kitchen and put two raw eggs into a bowl for me to eat. I told her that we need to cook the eggs before eating them and started looking for a cooking pan. In the cabinet where her dishes were, she had a piece of fried chicken sitting on top of the plates... I had no idea how long it had been there... I realized that she didn't realize what she was doing and she needed help, but it was my last day there and I had my own problems getting ready to move and couldn't help with that. I sometimes wonder what happened to her and if she was ok after that...

There was one "cute" incident were once she told me that she had to get ready and go to church. Her idea of going to church was putting on a nice dress and watching the church channel on cable in her living room....

You have to keep a close eye on them, as they don't know what is really happening around them and may need help and not realize it... Luckily he has the "wife"... But if I was you, I would keep checking up on him...

Thanks for sharing Karl. Either my sis or I call everyday to check on them. The wife is the cause of most of their problems, though my Dad over the years has allowed it. Worrying won't help.

Hope you feel better soon!

Well, I'm up again.

Feeling a little better now, but had the hot and cold flashes yesterday.

I made a couple of bowls of chicken noodle soup with tumeric and garlic in it the first day. This cold is so bad, that it only made me feel a little better for a short time, not like it has with the other colds I've had in the last year...

So yesterday, I remembered to add the black pepper. It increases the tumeric absorbtion around 2000 times... It did work better yesterday with the black pepper, but it's still a bad cold and my head feels like it's gonna explode...

I lost my appetite so bad, that I only ate two bowls of soup and 3 1/2 slices of pizza (square slices, not pie shaped). Hopefully this cold will help me loose a few pounds with it....

But I am starting to feel a little better...

Thanks for the well wishes David...

Morning Karl, Sorry to hear about your "morning sickness" Try boiling a few slices of Ginger and make some tea, works on the cold symptoms and settles the belly also. Hawaiian trick.

Hi Ray, Yes some are sicker than others! Looks like a nice one today on the coast.

Viewing today. 93 years young. Good guy went out surrounded by family. Today would have been his weekly lunch with his daughter, and his turn to pay. Joking till the end his last words were. " you know I'll do anything to get out of picking up a check" . Closed his eyes and was gone.

I do also have some ginger. I didn't know it can help for colds. I will have to give it a try later this morning... Tea, honey, and ginger...

Just slice it up and bring it to a boil for a few and honey or maple syrup works well. Let us know how it does for you. I love it. Never did it along with tea, but I really do not care for hot tea, now sweet tea is a whole different story!

Started and operated his own business. Son took over when he retired in the eighties. He couldn't stay away though. Came back about fifteen years ago and worked in the shop everyday till the end. Car guy, avid golfer, scuba diver , his son told me theirs few places in the world he never visited. World War Two vet. He lived a full life. We should all be so fortunate.

You have to watch ginger, it's very strong and can get too much to handle if you aren't careful... :angryfir:

I put it in my stew and use it to prepare some of my meats... :snorting:

Took the car out in the rain here yesterday, handles great but I forgot how loud the wipers are on them. I need to pull the linkage and see what is going on and do the pivot seals also. Running a lot better, the high rpms was the cheap tack. Adjusted the kick down linkage and band and the the 4-6-8 switch was off, 4 in 6 6 in 8 and 8 in 4, kind of like the chinglish instructions it came with. To bad the kids gave it to me.......Going on a 100 mile ride this morning with it! I am so excited. Got a gallon of water and a brand new roll of duct tape in the trunk so all should be good.

I had to much Ginger once, and Hope, Joy, April, still get aroused at the crack of Dawn.

Yeah ginger can burn the mouth, but boiling it mellows it out somewhat.....
