Dang, I better get going. Running late! See ya..........................................(poof)

Yep, hard at work here as well. LOL!

Im still waiting for my engine to be finished up and then it gets reinstalled. I do have some work to do on the car and I should get out in the garage this weekend to fix the minor things that bug me. But I probably wont get out there.

I was at the shop yesterday dropping off the rest of the parts (cam, oil pump, timing cover, etc..) So he can assemble it. It got pushed off for the time being because of some other projects that fell behind. Im hoping with in a couple of weeks.

well - this all got me to making a call - dropping it off tomorrow morning.. clean 'er up, bearings, seals and maybe a new cam - if it were anything but the 408 I would probably just bang away at myself but this feels like "insurance" I guess.. and it'll free me up to work on other stuff..

I am still wrestling with doing mine myself or having a local shop do the lower half for me...

Do it yourself. Then you know that it's done right. If you need any advice/help, let me know, I can walk you through what you need to know/do... I've been building engines for over 35 years, and have some great assembly tips...

I'm helping another member here with his 340. The parts are done at the head guy (in Detroit), we need to schedule a trip out there in the next week or two to pick them up. Heads, intake, and trans are done and ready to go. :burnout:

He had another guy already build the engine, but we found some short cuts that he took. No hardened seats in the exhaust valves, guides were sloppy, but that's all taken care of now. that's why I use my head guy, he knows his **** - more than me... The member already mentioned to me that he thinks it was a mistake to let someone else build his engine, but we will get it right before we put it in his 69 Dart. He's like me and likes to do things right the first time, so you don't have to do them over....

humm... this engine is already built, I am simply having it refreshed - take it down, clean the parts, put it back together.. this builder has been around for years and does have a good rep.. I will contemplate this over night, Thanks!

For those following my lifter drama, NO way to remove lifter from engine without removing intake. Drain back holes too small. Could remove casting flash from head but no way to get debris out of the valley area. Off with the intake. Dang.
