LOL We still have snow on the ground. I did get 1 snowblower put away but winter in Iowa might not be over yet.

I had mine gassed up and ready to go the last two snows, then remixed two more gallons... It started melting before I could get it... #-o

Then two more dustings... Not enough to run it... :violent1:

I need at least one more good snow so I can run the gas out of the blower... :banghead:

Eddie came over today and we worked on his 340...

Found the other guy put a single row timing chain in, so we are definitely going to go with a true roller double roller chain...

It did have a camshaft thrust plate bolt with the hole drilled through it, but not the drip tab, so I donated one of my spares so we can get the chain plenty of oil...

So now we know what we need to do, now he's going to order the parts so we can start assembling in two weeks...

Here's Eddie working on it:

Someone stamped "WATSON" on the oil pan rail, so Eddie decided to call the engine "Watson".... Elementary my dear Watson...

Here's the pistons. Speed Pro 428 P. They are supposed to be 10.5 compression, but with his X head at 74, and the gasket at 12.8, the pistons are flat to the deck with 12 - 12.4 cc valve reliefs, it works out to 8.11 compression....

Here's where we are mocking up the drip tab.

I'm glad that you all had a life today and I only had 2 - 3 pages to catch up on... Much easier on me... :glasses7:

Keep it up....

Dammit! My wife was taking a shower a little bit ago upstairs and then all of a sudden, the downstairs toilet started filling up and over flowing. I've been bailing and mopping for over an hour now. WTF happened??

All I can think is that the main sewer pipe out of the house must have a clog in it or the system somehow became vapor locked and wouldn't drain. All very odd in a 9 year old house with PVC pipes sitting 10 feet above the street level where the sewer main is. There aren't any trees within 20' of the house outlet and none are over 15' high so it can't be roots in the pipe.

Never saw any signs of issue before now and out of nowhere this happens. I can't figure it out and it's pissing me off. I haven't touched the plumbing or fixtures.

I would agree the main is slow or there is a venting issue. A friend recently bought a house and I moved the plumbing for their washer from the kitchen to the basement going almost directly into the main. Worked great till someone flushed upstairs while the washer was draining. Water splashed back out of the washer drain. I even raises it over a foot and still did it. WT...! I had no interest in opening the sewer main, so he called a plumber. A little snaking and all OK.

Did you buy a home warranty when you purchased it. It may be covered...

If not, you may need a plumber to come look at it...

Did your sick daughter barf in the toilet, or did she save all of that for the walls??? :poke:

A few years ago, on thanksgiving day, my septic system backed up! here I am on the side yard digging up pipe to fix it with my extended family at my house! man that was no fun. good luck, sounds like a blockage to the main. might be an EZ fix.

Call the man. Last thing you want to do is play around in a bunch of crap.

Wad' I miss? Dang **** happening all over.

You are so right, already called. I'm waiting on a call back from the dispatcher to see if they can get out here tonight or if we are waiting until morning for a service call.

The leaking and flooding crisis is passed but no toilet flushing or drain emptying until it's fixed. Good thing there are three toilets in this house or we'd be driving over to the other house and use that plumbing. I guess it's a good thing it isn't sold yet. :???:

You can always pee in the back yard...

Breakout the buckets. Run down to CVS or rite aid . Get a handi crap toilet.

Oh wait, the phone just rang. Technician will be here within 30 mins.

Thank God for that!

Stay tuned to see what he finds when he gets here...not feeling too optimistic right now.

I just know this is gonna be expensive. :banghead:
