Stop in for a cup of coffee

you have had a month to remember haven't ya!? damn...
Totally off the previous discussions, but last night I got a text from my friend who is renting my house in Memphis saying "We have a tornado warning, looks bad, fingers crossed."

Then I got nothing but radio silence after that. I texted him and tried calling a couple of times before falling asleep at 2 am.

I slept fitfully until he finally texted me back at 3:30 am saying the tornado missed them but they lost power for a few hours and his phone was out of charge so that's why he didn't reply. They were all safe but the roof was missing a few shingles and a couple of small leaks had started in the attic but he had buckets under them.

I don't have any pics yet, but it looks like it's time for a new roof based on his description later today. It's year 16 on a 15 year warranty builder roof, so we'll see if insurance will cover it or if it's out-of-pocket for me. Ugh!

I'm mostly just glad he and his family are safe.

Dang, I have been watching the local budget meeting, Hopefully they are ok.

10 min recess. My wife got up to the microphone and kicked some azz!

My father-in-law is doing just ok. He started radiation today. I had a phone conversatipon today with her. She thinks he will last a year or longer. The Dr's and Nurses predict a few months or so. It was a tough conversation to say the least.

Jeez, that's rough. No way around it but to hope for as much time as possible and hope it is gentle in it's conclusion.

When my Mom's cancer moved into her brain, it was only a matter of months before it was over, but she went gently and without pain in the end with family around her 27/7 for the final days. It was an incredibly peaceful passing and I have always been grateful for that because it spared her and my father the alternative.

Good for her man! Sounds like we could use her at our college. They just cut the overall budget by 1.7M and could go up to 2.7M. Im not sure how they expect the facilities dept. to keep the place running when they take around 200k from our budget.. Its ridiculous!

I've figured out that you can't have it all.

One of the new council members has the dry erase boards up showing his proposal. He keeps asking my wife "is that the figures?" She said "I don't know where you got your figures" This guy is just making stuff up.

A friend found an old newspaper clipping with a photo of an accident his grandmother had in 1972 with her 1967 jeep and asked me if I could restore and colorize it for the family album (No one was hurt). He told me the colors of the two vehicles as his grandfather remembered them.

Sure...no problem.

Play by play...Tom (clueless councilman) has a proposal. He was one to vote last Thursday because the mayor didn't give enough time to digest his proposal. Now it's ok. (they have been working on budget proposals for 3 months)
