Half of a 4x6 = 3x4. You could actually get 3 2x4's but that's a lot of cutting. As said it depends on the true size of the lumber. Also how is the grain. Is it nice and straight? Most pallets are built for strength, but if they are cross grained it might explain why they got rid of them...

Chris don't build with pallets, we had some in Hawaii that must if came from asia somewhere with a infestive termite in one and next thing we knew they ate a side of a building up, you never knew where they have been, at the least get them fumigated but by then you might as well buy new.
yeah, that's the nice part of indiana weather, they're being kept under a tarp outside, sub-zero winter weather will take care of the bugs

Man Ups is a PIA, sold a manifold from the slanty and the guy asked can I ship it ups so his mom wont have to lift it, sure no problem right. Have to set up a account for ebay, takes 15 min ok got it print the label and pick to have it picked up, well the shipping price goes way up they want 7.99 for a pickup, Glad my UPS guy lives down the block just cant find his cell # right now!

I guess I'm lucky - my "local" UPS is essentially on my route home - the only thing they really insist on is proper taping - packing tape - NO duct tape etc...
The most creative packing I ever got was the trailer hitch for the dart just brown paper over it and it looked like a French cross!
