Stop in for a cup of coffee

Also, most modern helicopters have built in de-icing systems. Icing risk is generally only when in a few degrees of freezing and humidity is high. Then the trailing edges can create a low pressure/temperature zone that allows liquid water to be deposited on the control surface where it freezes.

They fly helicopters in Antarctica all the time without issue.

I'm trying to figure out why this idea didn't get much traction in the other thread...

Helicopters fly up here in extreme cold too. Getting them started is the hard part. Unless they kept indoors.

Well latest update on the fugitive , sheriff site says they think he made it into the river and out the other side....... he will be a perpsicle as Dave said very soon. Dude is freaking nuts.

Well here's the answer already, according to the sheriff department website, high speed chase that ended with a suspect bailing from the car and into the wooded area along the river....... if i was the cops, as cold as it is, wait him out, he'll give up soon
Maybe he is coming to your house!

Had some yummy grilled deer steaks for dinner. My son, the butcher gave us a cooler full of meat. Mostly beef - Delmonicos, NY Strips, Pork chops, bunch of ground venison...

And you didn't call? We could have watched the Steelers win and Ravens lose and eat while doing it

Nah, if he crossed the river, he's heading the opposite direction.

How deep/far across is the water? :realcrazy:
depends on where exactly he crossed it. That are curves and varies. This time of year, the depth can vary from knee high to 30 feet in some spots. Width, widest in that area I'd guess to be a couple hundred yards . It gets much wider down stream.

And it's not frozen? Must be damn cold! I would think if he got in more than a few feet deep for more than a few seconds - he'd be done

He had to be showing up on the FLIR like a beacon in those temps...unless he has already frozen to death.

I'd imagine it is. Don't know haven't been down that way since it turned cold.

As I say that, an ambulance just went screaming down the road that direction, I imagine they found him
