Good morning

If you want the best available, you pay for it. After all money is made every day, these parts are not.and for good reason imho
yep. trust me, If I had a car i was doing original restoration on, it would have as many NOS parts as I could find on it.If you want the best available, you pay for it. After all money is made every day, these parts are not.
On my 66 Charger, I spent years hunting down NOS stuff. In the days when the Internet was in its infancy. LOTS of phone calls, and trips ...yep. trust me, If I had a car i was doing original restoration on, it would have as many NOS parts as I could find on it.
Ouch, but yeh, I can believe that.Had way over a grand in those tail lights for sure. Morning![]()
But at least there were more parts available then. The internet is a double edge sword. It makes the parts available, so they end up on cars quicker than they would and the supply disappears faster...On my 66 Charger, I spent years hunting down NOS stuff. Yep, '66 tail lights are made of Mopars favorite stuff, Pot metal! My re finisher was GREAT!! But even then I had to go thru a few parts to get the end result. Dave has a few extra parts, NOS or perfect refinished, and some NOS lens.Ouch, but yeh, I can believe that.
Are the 66 pot metal like most tail light bezels? That and the lenses...I know NOS Duster taillights (if you can find them) bring stupid money. If trying to do 100point resto the repops don't cut it and pot metal restoration is often sketchy at best. I was only looking for good used 'drivers' and they almost all have bad pitting.
And '66 Chargers are the least popular Charger and not many people are restoring them. That helped. But at least there were more parts available then. The internet is a double edge sword. It makes the parts available, so they end up on cars quicker than they would and the supply disappears faster...
same with the 74 dart tail lamps. They're not reproduced and the bezels are always pitted or studs broken off.Ouch, but yeh, I can believe that.

I want a 1st gen charger. I know where a couple are. but they are beyond roughAnd '66 Chargers are the least popular Charger and not many people are restoring them. That helped.
The pitting, you drill out the "cancer" the pits. You can silver solder the holes you drilled out. Lots of copper plate, buff, re plate copper, till it is smooth. Then the nickel/chromeOuch, but yeh, I can believe that.

Some usable parts on those for sure.

I wont tell anyone how much I spent on the lowly '66 Dart. Just Say Dave got a smokin deal! Looking at it, it is tough to see where the money was spentOuch that's a ton on lights for sure.

I think that's Frank Mitchell's old place. Or maybe not. He passed away. Bought some NOS from him. Not cheap but he had the goods. I think Frank had only Mopar unless this place bought him out.Dam this guy has some parts.
